Barrington Levy’s “Broader Than Broadway” Featured In New “The Harder They Fall” Trailer

The minute you start watching this trailer for the upcoming Netflix Film, “The Harder They Fall“, you’ll hear that easily recognizable “Here I come” line from the legendary Barrington Levy. Once again, Jamaican music has popped up in something that we know many are going to love. Black Cowboys are the order of the day in this Jeymes Samuel directed Film starring Regina King, Delroy Lindo, Idris Elba, Jonathon Majors, and many more!

As previously mentioned, music from Barrington Levy was featured in the form of a remixed version of his 1985 classic, “Broader Than Broadway” a.k.a. “Here I Come“. Produced by Paul “Jah Screw” Love, the single was released through the Thunderbolt Label, and is one of Levy’s biggest hits to date. Also featured in the trailer for “The Harder They Fall” (which borrows a lyric from another Jamaican Icon, Jimmy Cliff from his 1972 classic, “The Harder They Come“), is Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti’s 1971 track, “Let’s Start” featuring Ginger Baker. In case you didn’t know, popular Afrobeat Recording Artist Mr. Eazi released the 2nd volume in his “Life Is Eazi” mixtape series. With a blend of new sounds and familiar names, this project is one to keep on repeat. One of the familiar names that appears on the project is Jamaica’s own Chronixx on the track “She Loves Me“. With a rather upbeat production, the duo speak on the roller coaster loving they each experience with their respective love interests. A song many can relate to as mixed signals can be a detriment to a budding relationship, and then there are those who have ulterior motives. Be careful as to not let another person misuse your love. When was the last time you heard a Gully Bop tune? He was on top of the Dancehall scene for a while, but somewhat faded out. With some saying he’s working on his comeback, today’s new entry may just be a start. Recently his “Wuk Affa Mi/Body Specialist” single was sampled by Ghanaian DJ/Producer Juls for the Nigerian Dancehall Artist Burna Boy assisted, “Gwarn“! A song for the ladies, Juls and Burna want them to know that they have the “good good loving” that they need! With Bop’s catchy lyrics that turned him into a viral sensation added, the single also gives the men a warning that if you don’t treat her right, another man will.
