Dropping a new music video today is the “Dancehall Duchess” Tiana and this features Deejay Unycorn. Titled “18 & Ova” and directed by Carlington Wilmot and OutARoad Pictures, we see Tiana and a couple ladies play the role of school girls who try to seduce Unycorn who plays the adult role. In the song Unycorn is adamant on not being with a female below the age of 18 but Tiana doesn’t want to hear that because she has a crush on him and continues to convince him in every way. A good effort here as this is something that happens quite often here where men prey on young girls, and even young girls preying on men. He says 18 and over only ladies. Word on the streets they are suspects, hanging with killers in the projects but today we get a remix of Rapper Que’s very popular “OG Bobby Johnson“. Featuring Vybz Kartel and remixed by DJ Lank of Code Red Sound, we get some of Kartel’s greatest badman lyrics over the popular song that has been making its rounds since last year. A great effort here as we can never get enough Vybz Kartel no matter how old or new his songs are. Check out the track below and share your thoughts in the comments section.
Being one of the top Hip Hop acts in North America, Kardinal Offishall has always reached out to the land of his heritage, Jamaica. From collaborating with top Dancehall acts to incorporating Dancehall styles in his songs, Kardinal always managed to keep a close link to Canada and Jamaica. Tonight on Onstage he spoke about his new position at Universal Music, his recent nomination at the JUNO Awards, his upbringing, collaborating with Bounty Killa that gave him his break in Jamaica, promoting new music on the island, and creating a movement to help Caribbean artists, designers, and producers to bring their talent to a larger audience. Great interview here, Kardinal also premiered the music video for his “Tattoo/Rude Bwoy” single which was shot in Jamaica. I commend him for donating to the Clonmel Primary and Junior High as well. Tonight on Onstage, DJ Jabba of Hot 97, Massive B Sound, and Irie Jam Radio (to name a few of his many platforms) was a guest. Here he spoke about visiting his mother, being born in New York and his upbringing in Jamaica, his upcoming “Best of the Best” concert, thoughts on the Vybz Kartel trial and how it affects Dancehall Music worldwide, how promoting Dancehall Music differs in the U.S. and the difficulties faced when it comes to crossing over. Not a bad interview here, Jabba has been one of the top DJs overseas to bring the best of Dancehall to the streets and airwaves.
