The 14-track set contains all-exclusive, never before released tracks from the “World Boss” Vybz Kartel. Recorded by the prolific artist before his incarceration, the tracks have been carefully completed by renowned Dancehall producer Linton ‘TJ’ White of TJ Records and Adidjahiem the label known for “bussing” artists like Popcaan, Jah Vinci, Lisa Hyper, Tommy Lee Sparta and more, as well as the Billboard chart topping hit “Romping Shop.” Fans who have been longing to hear Kartel at his best will not be disappointed.
Kartel says “King of the Dancehall” is not a 14 song compilation, it’s a masterpiece, an album that encompasses the very essence of Adidja Palmer and by extension, The Jamaican experience,” stated Kartel (aka Adidja Palmer) in a written statement released to the media. “King of the Dancehall” will reinforce Vybz Kartel’s status as not just another self-proclaimed King, but as the people’s champion. The man who has created a movement like no other in DANCEHALL – the true KING!!!”
As the title suggests, the album is dancehall to its core. In another part of his statement Kartel, also known to his fans as “The Teacha” said “This album will bring its listeners into the world of hardcore DANCEHALL, not some ‘pop music’ watered down version. It will give you a peek into my Jamaica. Not the one on the tourist board ads, but the real Jamaica…DANCEHALL JAMAICA”
Distributed by Zojak World Wide, the album will hit stores on June 10th and fans can pre-order the album exclusively on iTunes starting May 6th. Listeners are in for a musical experience from the “World Boss” who is truly a voice of the people.
Premiered recently on Drake’s OVO Sound Radio, we get another single from the “World Boss“, Vybz Kartel. Titled “One Phone Call” and produced by Rvssian for Head Concussion Records, Vybz drops this one for the ladies as he states “Me deh deh fi you (I’ll be there for you)” and whenever his lady needs him he’s one phone call away. Vybz Kartel continues to flex his versatility in his music, even while incarcerated. Look out for his new project to hit the streets soon! In recognition of Federation Sound’s 15th anniversary and Vybz Kartel’s career that has been stalled by his recent convictions, today’s Oldies Sunday selection comes in the form of a mixtape. Titled “From Time To Time“, this mixtape increased the popularity of Vybz Kartel and marked as the first collaboration between him and Federation Sound. Released in 2003, this mixtape featured hits from the artist, exclusive dubs and more that brought him from a local star to an International name to know. Founded in 1999 by Max Glazer, Kenny Meez, and Cipha Sounds, Federation Sound was formed to help bring Reggae music and message to all walks of life in the form of exclusive mixes and dubplates. With current members such as Alric & Boyd, and past member the late Disco D, Federation Sound became a force to be reckoned with in their 15 year career.
