Looking back at the past can’t always be a bad thing as it aids in your growth, and shows how much your life has improved along the way. Lila Ike has come a long way however, and today she lets us in on her journey on “Where I’m Coming From“! With a visual directed by Nickii Kane and Lila, Lila went back to her hometown of Christiana, Manchester (Manchester’s the home of this Blog 😄) to reconnect and built a vibe with friends, family, the In.Digg.Nation team, and Chi Ching Ching! The visual also shows a younger Lila Ike during her Manchester High School (Sic Luceat Lux) days where was seen assisting the School Choir, performing at her graduation, and interacting with friends. With Lila, you know the fashion will come out as she rocked various hairstyles and outfits throughout.

With solid singles out, Lila Ike is continuing her path in being one of the upcoming greats in recent years. Regardless of where she is in life, she’ll always give thanks to The Most High for the blessings and the strength throughout. Be on the lookout for Lila Ike as she’ll be performing in a town near you soon on her headlining European Tour! Lila Ike EP on the way too.

We Look Back At Jeremy Harding’s “Playground Riddim” In Our Throwback Playlist Series!


Recently, UK Recording Artist Mahalia released her Burna Boy featured single, “Simmer. Today, we show respect to the sample. Going into Playlist Mode yet again, we look back at the “Playground Riddim” in our #13thStreetThrowback Playlist Series! The Riddim was released in 1997 and produced by Jeremy Harding for his 2 Hard Label. It birthed the classics “Nike Air” by Mr. Vegas, “Pet & Pamper” by Mad Cobra, “Infiltrate” by Sean Paul, and the mega hit, Who Am I” a.k.a. “Sim Simma by Beenie Man! The Riddim was also sampled by UK Artists Krept & Konan, US Rapper Bizzy Bone, and UK DJ/Producer Spooky Bizzle.

Taking its place as an instantly recognizable sound is Jamaican Producer Jeremy Harding’s 1997Playground Riddim“! Released through the 2 Hard label, the Riddim featured Sean Paul’sInfiltrate“, Cobra’sPet and Pamper“, Mr. Vegas’Nike Air“, and Beenie Man’sWho Am I” a.k.a. “Sim Simma“! Yami Bolo, Tenor Saw, & Joe Lickshot Sampled On New @FreddieGibbs & @MadLib Album!


Recently, US Rapper Freddie Gibbs and Producer Madlib teamed up to release their latest collab project, “Bandana“. Following up on the “Piñata” project, the they blend various sounds with gritty lyrics for all to enjoy. While many samples grace this project, track 5 a.k.a. “Massage Seats” features a sample from Reggae/Dancehall Artist Yami Bolo, the late Dancehall Artist Tenor Saw, and Reggae Artist Joe Lickshot. The sample comes from the trio’s contribution to the 1991 project, “Radio, Dance Hall Live” which later became known as “Tenor Saw Lives On: A Tribute To Tenor Saw” which was released by the Sky High label. The sample can be heard various times throughout the project.

Yami Bolo, Tenor Saw, and Joe Lickshot join the likes of Producer Danny Browne, and the late Billy Boyo who had their works sampled by Hip Hop acts this year. Tenor Saw’s music was recently featured in the Netflix film, “See You Yesterday” which was co-directed by Spike LeeFreddie Gibbs and Madlib’s “Bandana” is out now, but you can check out the featured tracks below.
