Charly Black Promoted Unity With Star-Studded “One Chance” Festival In Manchester

On Saturday December 14, the Parish of Manchester was treated to a night of great performances thanks to the first staging of the “One ChanceMusic Festival. Hosted by Dancehall Artist Charly Black, DJ Marvin, and Unstoppable Entertainment and held at the parking lot of Toast Restaurant & Gelato, the “One Chance” Music Festival was made to promote unity in Jamaican music and society, bring together a number of established and rising stars, and bring more specialized entertainment events in Manchester. Despite the late start for performances, patrons were treated to the selections from the likes of Bass Odyssey, DJ Sherlock, and ZJ Liquid, and those who needed something extra could grab a soup, boxed food, and a beverage of their choice nearby.

When it was time for the performances, the early segment gave way to a number of Mandeville-based Reggae/Dancehall Artists on the rise who displayed some of their best work. It was then followed by performances by the Tower Band who provided musical backing for Charly Black, who soon after brought on stage Yaksta, Yaadcore, Neeqah, Denyque, and X-Kappe, who brought along a number of his Artists. The first staging of the “One Chance” Music Festival showed that Music Festival deserves to be held in the Parish, and we look forward to a bigger, better event in 2025.

For those who were unable to attend the Music Festival, we have some highlights for you to check out. Check out the video below, and share with a friend. Show us some love/follow us on Twitter, TikTok, Threads, and Instagram at @13thStreetPromo.

Located at 1b Mannings Hill Rd. in Kingston, patrons witness displays of Art from some rising stars from 8PM to 12AM. Since its inception in late 2016, it has quickly become the talk of the town, or rather the Island. For those who don’t know, we recently interviewed a couple members behind the “New Wave” team, Lindsey Lodenquai (Head Coordinator), and Davida-Mae Chambers (Social Media Manager/Coordinator). Open your mind for a “New Wave”!

13thStreetPromo: For those who don’t know, what is the origin of New Wave? How did it come about from an idea to an event?
New Wave: New Wave began with Protoje and Jason Panton who envisioned a platform for emerging local talents- once the idea is there, there will always be a way for it to manifest to fruition.
13SP: Describe a standard night at a New Wave event.
NW: VIBESY! It’s always a great feeling being there with persons who are equally enthused about culture and creativity!

13SP: “Jamaica has so much to offer culturally and artistically from this generation”. What’s New Wave’s stance on this comment, and how important is it for events like this to push Jamaica’s talent?
NW: The comment is so true, the talent this generation has is through the roof! Once we have the resources, It is our responsibility to nurture this talent and allow it to flourish.

NEW MUSIC: @IamTheKartel x @Denyque – Revenge

Vybz-Kartel-Ft.-Denyque-RevengeToday’s new music comes from Denyque and the “World BossVybz Kartel. Titled “Revenge” and produced by AdidJahiem Records, we hear Denyque letting Kartel know that she’s tired of his lies and deceit so she’s going to do her own thing in an act of revenge. Kartel on the other hand explains what happened between him and a few ladies and says she’s his “Today and Tomorrow” while the others mean nothing. A good effort from these two as they play the “Two can play that game” scenario. What goes around comes around. Check out the song below and share your thoughts in the comments section.

NEW VIDEO: @TifaMusic – Got It Like That

Today’s new video comes from the Diva herself, Tifa. Titled “Got It Like That” and directed by RD Studios, it starts off with Tifa’s friend getting kicked out by her man only for Tifa to gather her friends and instead of crying and feeling bad they throw a party and celebrate female independence. Featuring cameos from the likes of Miss Kitty, Denyque, Michaela Leeanna and Fashion Enira, this is a very fun video and the cast sure enjoyed making it. That birthday cake was crazy though. What do you think of the video? Check it out below and share your thoughts in the comments section.
