You may have heard of the “Tall Ras“, you may have enjoyed his DJ gigs whether he plays in the club, the street or at your favourite University, but what you know about DJ Ariez? Representing Clarendon, he has been in this DJ game for quite some time. While many may be familiar with his stint as a member of YxB (Youngest x Baddest), he has recently joined the ranks of Chromatic Sound and continues to keep your attention thanks to his collection of Mixtapes and live juggling. We had a chance to holla at the DJ and get his thoughts on his recent signing, thoughts on the Jamaican Entertainment Industry, plans for the future and more.

13thStreetPromotions: Greetings Ariez, pleasure to hear from you. Catch us up on the momentum you’ve been gaining recently. Fans would love to know about your recent game-changer, bring us into your shoes so we can know what the Chromatic experience is firsthand.

Ariez:  The momentum since the move is a little overwhelming as it is a huge step up in my DJing career. This new opportunity has granted me more work (more Mixtapes, DJ gigs etc.), access to a larger fan base, and more promotion for my brand. I am ever so grateful for all of this.

13thSP: Let’s not kid ourselves, to work with one of Jamaica’s current top selectors is a huge achievement. Did you always figure it would be Chromatic and if this doesn’t get you into too much trouble, were there any other prospects?

Produced by Jon-Ross Kelly, Auburn is going through a situation with a young lady he’s dating where he shows her love, but he receives mixed signals from her. While he comes from a good place, she has had bad experiences in the love department and is coming from a place of hurt. The dating world can be a tough one at times as there are many damaged souls out there who are afraid to love again. Continue to show them love and help them to put it all behind them. We’ve recently lost the man who helped to revolutionize Ska and Rocksteady Music, Cecil Bustamante Campbell, more popularly known as Prince Buster. A musical Pioneer, a brilliant Songwriter and Producer, Prince Buster paved the way that many Reggae and Ska Artists worldwide follow to this day. Today we reflect on the Icon by showcasing his “Prince Of Peace Concert” that was held in Japan in 2003, and a 1998 Levi’s Jeans Commercial featuring the single, “Whine and Grine“.

@PoshMuzik Is Back On The Music Scene With “Horse Tonic”!

2009 Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall breakout contestant Posh Morris, more popularly known as “Posh”, is back on the music scene with her new single, ‘Horse Tonic’. The female Deejay, remembered for her versatility in the clash ring, recorded the song on the ‘Horse Tonic Riddim’ produced by ZJ Dymond. The highly energetic single shows off Posh Morris’ lyrical prowess as a female Artist and her aggressive approach to Dancehall music.

The ‘Horse Tonic’ Artist who hails from Portmore, Saint Catherine said, “This song is very powerful and this is just the start of what I consider to be a takeover. I have been quiet for some time now and I hear a lot of talk about female Artists sitting back, so it’s my time now to step out”. Posh Morris who is known for singles such as ‘Take What’s Mine’ and ‘Rock The Party’ ,earned herself a Youth View Awards nomination earlier this year for “Director of the Year” landing her in the minds of her colleagues as a double threat. She added, “The road doesn’t just stop for me when the song is mixed, it’s about having the visuals to complement it and as a woman in music, I pride myself in being able to deejay, produce and direct videos”.

Posh Morris has now started working on the video for the single which she promises to be ‘creative’ and ‘unique’ adding that she wants to bring the “same vibe from the song to the video”. She is also working on a second project with ZJ Dymond which she describes as ‘head turning’. Now on the promotional trail, she has started media runs in Jamaica and has since been receiving great reviews.

With the single gaining more popularity thanks to Producer Kickraux’s Remix, the Artists premiere the visuals today. Directed by Jack Newman, the Deejays speak on the beauty of a woman and how it entices them, and they then experience the “Crick Neck” when a sexy woman walks their way. They say when it comes to good friendships, distance can never ruin it. Today, Recording Artist/Producer M.I.A. recruits Dancehall Artist Dexta Daps for “Foreign Friend“! A single that promotes being a best friend in every way, this is indeed a dope meeting of lyrics and vocals from two very creative Individuals. M.I.A., who has been no stranger to Jamaica, revealed that during her recent trip to the Island, she heard Dexta on the radio and was inspired and encouraged to collaborate with him. A fan of his single, “Morning Love“, this drew an even greater interest in making music together. Dexta, who is known for his powerful deliveries and strong lyrics, was a perfect match for the single as he kicked off with “Imma treat yuh like mi best friend…“. Go best friend, go best friend!
