Najeeriii Has His Eyes On The Prize For “SISU” Album

Success is something we all attain for. No matter what industry or job we’re in, we all want our rewards, earnings, and accolades. Dancehall Artist Najeeriii had this in mind ever since he decided to step into the music scene. From a Teenager writing lyrics in class, to having hit singles, to performing on various stages, he has accomplished what many are working towards. He hasn’t reached his ultimate goal yet, but he’s getting there. With his sophomore album “SISU“, he’s saying that success for him is simply unavoidable.

Featuring 11 tracks, Najeeriii is on a mission for his gold with his 2nd album, “SISU”. He gained respect for his debut album “Book Of Bob“, and now he wants everything that’s deserving to him. The album features aspirations of generational wealth, the spoils of his work and hustle, music for the ladies, and something for the streets to keep in rotation. The Deejay looks to earn a bigger breakout this time around, catapulting his name to even more places. Released through Hacakdat Recordings/Senegal Productions/Hapilos Records, production on the new album includes the likes of Rahim McDaniel, Romarei Ashley, Jordon Loud, Stephan Mills and more, and he shares the stage with ffawty this time around. From his breakout with “Panton“, Najeeriii has come a long way, but his story is not over. Time to watch him make the best moves for success.

OLDIES SUNDAY: Ernest Wilson – Money Worries (1967)

We’re in the month of September, and like other months, the bills are here. In the Caribbean, September starts the new school year, and everything from the tuition to the school supplies are pricey. Some parents have been saving for most of the year, and still come up short. No matter the year or decade, there has been a song about cost of living, and today’s “Oldies Sunday” selection covers one of them. Today, we go back in time to check out Ernest Wilson’s “Money Worries“.

Produced by “Sir Coxsone” Dodd and released through Studio One in 1967, Ernest Wilson cries at the rising costs of everything in, “Money Worries”. He shares how the everyday Man is affected as they work hard, only to receive so little in the end. He also sheds light on his family life as even putting gas in the car puts a major dent in the household funds. “Money Worries” quickly became a hit for Wilson, and spawned a number of remixes over the years, with other Producers getting involved. The relatable lyrics were true then, and still holds weight today.

Since the release of “Money Worries”, Ernest Wilson continued to release music. His music releases were short-lived, and he would work as an Aviation Supervisor at the Norman Manley International Airport. He was the founding member of The Clarendonians with Peter Austin, and he introduced a young Freddie McGregor (who was sometimes a member, and was a part of a duo with Wilson) to Coxsone Dodd, and the rest is history. Ernest Wilson passed away in 2021, but many still remember his numerous releases, including “Money Worries”.

LTL Gives Us Dancehall-Disco Vibes With “BNB”

They say Jamaicans are nuff, and to be honest, it’s an understatement. Over the years, there have been collaborations and fusions with International music genres, and now Dancehall Music has extended a branch for more fusions. Canada-based group LTL, known for their viral single “Dagga Riddim“, are now diversifying their sound. This time around, they tap into an older music genre for their new single, “BNB“.

Produced by Jojo You Made That, LTL mixes Dancehall and Disco on the new single, “BNB”, The group, consisting of One Don, Yung 2nuff, Topman Meeko, Erin B, and Enzooo, all bring the energy here for a single aimed at the ladies. While the “Disco” sound isn’t the sound from the 70s, it’s a more modern vibe that could bring out the Disco ball, bell bottom pants, big hair, and high heel steppers to the dance floor. The production reminds me of the theme song for “That’s So Raven” or even Drake’s “Cheetah Print”, but it’s energetic, and gels well with the lyrics the Artists bring forth. Another example of Jamaicans making music that’s beyond the usual genres, and scoring big with them. Expect a Disco-themed music video in the future. And for the record, there were Jamaicans recording Disco Music like Jesse Green, Carl Douglas, and Lorna Bennett.

Recording Artist Xhae continues to build on her catalogue. The Singer has been making appearances at a number of events, and even represented Jamaica this past August in the Cayman Islands. She is determined not to be stuck in one lane, and she continues to show promise. Earlier, she released the new single, “Right Now“.

Produced by Jermaine Forde and released through Dubshot Records, Xhae has her eyes on the right Man, and she wants to make great things happen with him “Right Now”. With a tempo that’s just right and backed by Reggae production, Xhae looks to have this new single rotating on all the Sound Systems. The easygoing vibe here calls for a cozy party for two, and a late night excursion, or a time to paint the town red. As her catalogue continues to grow, she looks to expand on her artistry, and put herself in the position to be the next big thing. Keep playing this one.

Dancehall Artist Malie Donn is on top of the world. Since his breakout single “V6“, he has been in demand locally, and overseas, and he has managed to maintain a presence. While he has gotten into a few beefs, the fans have been supportive of every move, and they get rewarded with new music. He feels like the chosen one in Dancehall. You can say, like his debut album, he is “The Golden Child“.

Featuring 21 tracks, Malie Donn crosses a new level in his career with the release of “The Golden Child” album. Known for the gritty street singles and the girl tunes that find him at his raunchiest, they are present on this album as he uses the moment to showcase why he is an in-demand Artist. With a heavy tracklist, fans won’t be complaining, and the tracks come at a time where the rotation will be regular. Production on “The Golden Child” includes the likes of Attomatic Records, Daniel Wahlberg, Godfrey Whittaker, DJ Frass, Darius Bailey, Robert Salkey, and Hemton Music, while Byron Messia, Antuwang, Javo Donn, and Squash make appearances on the much-anticipated project. Malie Donn may not be the kid from Tibet, but he may have the abilities to cause a massive shift in the scene. There goes the chosen one.
