Today’s new music comes from a Jamaican One Man Band, Scotty + The DreamKillers. Titled “Keep It Rocking” and features a production from JLA, this features a great Michael Jackson sample (Rock With You) while Scotty raps about chasing his dreams, never slowing down on his work, pushing on despite challenges and keeping it rocking. A great effort here and being a Michael Jackson fan I love this production. For clarification, Scotty + The DreamKillers is really a One Man Band where “Scotty” is the rapper and “JLA” is the producer. Hip Hop in Jamaica continues to rise with the emergence of new artists who aim to hang with the best of them. Off his new EP “Been A Minute“, Rapper ChronDon released the visuals to his freestyle over Drake’s “Wu-Tang Forever” single. Directed by Creezay YGF, Chron hangs out with his friends and drops some bars over the instrumental. ChronDon has been doing his thing for a while and is definitely one to look out for. “Strictly Jamaican when you see me spark“. Accurate! On tonight’s episode of Juss Buss Acoustic, Kabaka Pyramid performed on an unplugged set. Delivering some of his well known songs, Kabaka was also interviewed by the hosts Dru and Rach. Kabaka Pyramid has always been an artist I have respected as he displays great lyricism and commands your attention in his songs. On Saturday April 12, the Red Bones Blues Cafe was treated to some great poetry and music from some very talented people. Exodus Poetry Jamaica in association with 13thStreetPromotions staged the first of many in their “Open Mic” series dubbed “A Night Of Elevation“. Featuring the talents of Harold Davis, Ashley Davis, Kimberly Walsh and many more who stepped to the stage, this is another event that highlights the natural talent found on this great Island. After teasing fans with the behind the scenes and trailer videos, I Octane and KyMani Marley have finally released “A Yah Wi Deh“. Directed by Bling Blang (Sasha Bling) and shot in Tower Hill, we hear the artists dropping lyrics about the struggles and being on the battlefield while we see scenes of people doing what they can to survive in the ghetto. We also see scenes of the artists performing for the people and also partying with them in the end. A great effort here, Bling Blang did a good job as it’s very clean and this marks as another hit on her list. I Octane’s “My Journey” is in stores now. Very soon the phrase, “Talk up di things dem, Talk It Out!” will be heard everywhere thanks to Danielle D.I. and Tiana’s new single, “Talk It Out“. Produced by Sly and Robbie, the “Rebel” and the “Duchess” were working on the music video recently and fans will see it for the first time this weekend. The video, which was directed by Carlington Wilmot of OutARoad Pictures and shot at the Glitzzy Hair Store and the Palisadoes Strip, features the artists being as sexy as they want to be while “Talking Up Di Tings“.
