Titled “Who Knows” and produced by Winta James, we hear them speaking about poverty, spreading love to everyone whether good or bad, acknowledging Jah’s works and being conscious over a really good production. On tonight’s episode of Onstage, Winford Williams had a chat with Reggae artist Protoje. Here he spoke about his recent tours overseas and the effects on the fans, calling out the government on not fully supporting the music culture of Jamaica, the growth of Reggae music worldwide, why he chose a Reggae career, Edna Manley School of the Visual and Performing Arts and his band IndiggNation. Great interview and I like how they both called out the Government and encouraged further growth of Reggae music in Jamaica. What do you think of the interview? Mixtape Movements: @Protoje – Music From My Heart (Presented by @IAmYaadCore)

In celebration of Protoje’s birthday, he teamed up with Yaadcore to release his “Music From My Heart” mixtape. Featuring 27 tracks which are a combination of music from his “8 Year Affair” along with exclusive tracks, this promises to be a great fix for the Protoje fan and a great start for the new listener. Features on this mixtape include Chronixx, Jah9, Kabaka Pyramid, and the legendary Sizzla. Today also marks the beginning of their summer tour in the United States and Europe so if you’re in those areas get yourself informed on where you can see him perform. Today’s new music comes from Jah 9 and Protoje. Titled “Legitimate” and produced by Rory Stone Love, we hear the two Reggae artists dropping conscious lyrics about living life righteously, love, and being positive over a soothing production. This is track 11 off Jah 9’s “New Name” album which has been receiving rave reviews all around. Great song to meditate to. “New Name” is still on iTunes so get it today. NEW VIDEO: @Protoje – I & I

Off the newly released “8 Year Affair” album Reggae singer Protoje released his music video for “I & I“. Directed by I & I & I (i’m guessing Protoje directed this), we see him and a few friends walking the streets and spreading messages and pamphlets out to people in efforts to help them learn about Marcus Garvey, Walter Rodney and Haile Selassie I. This video features cameos from Jah 9, Kabaka Pyramid, Chronixx and many others. As described by Protoje this was more than a video shoot, it was also a march that done in collaboration with author Dutty Bookman. Nice video, very clean quality and the song and idea were good ones. Check out the video below and share your thoughts in the comments section.
