It’s been a while since we’ve featured Jamaican Rapper Gotti OG. With him feeling like a “Wockstar” the last time, he now gears up to release a project filled with some of his best work. Kicking things off till then, he releases the “Nomad Freestyle“. With production by Circa11, Gotti gives listeners that “drip talk” until that mixtape drops. With the visual shot by ShotByDeth, we find Gotti in the Studio putting together the bars in the booth and letting some good weed smoke fill the room. With “Marinas & Moet” floating around as the suggested title of the mixtape, listeners can look forward to more Gotti OG in the coming months. A dream is just the beginning when you’re on a mission to achieve greatness. Rapper Five Steez knows that too well as he continues his journey in music. With the follow up to his 2016 Mordecai Beats assisted collab project “HeatRockz” on the way, he aims to hold listeners over with the single, “Dreamer“. With Mordecai handling the production, the track features Shaq The MC on the hook as Steez shares bits of his life growing up and pursuing his passion, music. This song is also motivation for those who have dreams to build on them. Not a fan of the delivery of the hook on “Pete Sweat’s” part, but the track is a good listen overall. “Love N Art” is the name of the followup project, and sees a 2019 release. Dancehall & Reggae Music continue to influence many worldwide whether through the various sounds, lyrics, or even some of the people who create from the genres. Today’s entry is no different as famed Hip Hop Producer 9th Wonder dabbled in a bit of the sounds in his latest compilation album, “Jamla Is The Squad 2“! While the album features a host of tracks for every flavour, it’s the opening track that will surprise and awe many. On “Welcome To JamRoc“, the opening vocals come courtesy of Dancehall Artist Quick Cook, while the following production samples Damian “Junior Gong” Marley’s “Welcome To JamRock“, and Ini Kamoze’s “World A Music“. With 9th tackling the production, Rapsody, Heather Victoria, GQ, Reuben Vincent, and Ian Kelly provide the lyrics that go well with the dope sounds. This isn’t the first time 9th sampled Jamaican music as he borrowed sounds from The Mighty Diamonds on the tracks “L.A.” and “Bad Man” by MURS, and Third World on the track “Let It Go” by Little Brother. Born in Saint Vincent & The Grenadines and based in Brooklyn, New York, Recording Artist J Kinggz has been on the grind and making his voice be heard. We’ve featured him some time ago with the single, “Birthday” featuring HighOnFi, but he has since followed up with the Jewelry store anthem, “Patek” with a promise that a project was on the way. That promise was kept as he released the “30 Days EP (The Life Changing Project)“. Featuring four tracks, this came together during a very serious time in his life. With freedom on the line, the best thing he could do during that time was pray and create (and he spoke it in the paperwork for this EP). With Producers such as RazsyBeats, Khalijah, and JSebastian providing the sounds for the lyrics and features from J.R.E. and DTG, J Kinggz gives listeners a bit of what’s to come as he’s currently working on more music including a follow up project. Bless up Jamaica and New York City. Today we’re witnessing a historic moment thanks to Chris Matic, a Jamaican born Rapper who resides in Brooklyn, New York! Having been on the grind for some time, his day finally arrived once he signed with IB Music, a division of Invisible Bully which was started by Damion “D-Roc” Butler and Diddy. Since his signing, Chris Matic has been showing up at various outlets dropping bar after bar, and impressing many. Today is no different however as he checks in with the legendary DJ Funk Flex at Hot 97, and he delivered! Over Drake’s “Duppy Freestyle” and Mobb Deep’s “Quiet Storm” Instrumentals, he lets us know he’s not in the 360 deal life, rolling with D-Roc and Diddy, and showcasing why he’s one of the nicest out there. If you’re a Hip Hop head, then you’re familiar with Chicago Rapper Lupe Fiasco. He has collaborated with the likes of Kanye West and Jay Z, and gave us hits like “Superstar“, “Kick, Push“, and “The Show Goes On“. Recently, he released his 7th studio album, “DROGAS WAVE” with enough bars to keep fans happy till the next project. What made this project more interesting, is Lupe tapping into some Jamaican influences here. On “Gold vs the Right Things to do“, he utilizes patois throughout, and although it may make some of us cringe, he drops some serious lines in this one to make up for it (he did a better job than these Actors in this article). On “Kingdom” he teams up with another potent lyricist, Damian “Junior Gong” Marley as they unleash more consciousness into the world. For those familiar with Lupe, this project is a great listen and has garnered positive reviews so far. If you’re new here and into lyrics, you can’t go wrong with Lupe.
