Remixed is Rico Love’s “Somebody Else“, which features a guest appearance from Dancehall artist, Sean Paul. With a Caribbean feel in the production, Rico and Sean share their feelings on loving someone, but their love interest is busy loving someone else. Today’s new music comes from the “World Boss“, Vybz Kartel and Singer Toian joins him. Titled “Ice Queen” and produced by TJ Records, they both take the R&B route here as they talk about infidelity and what they’ve done to each other. Interesting track here, it’s still crazy how many tracks have been released this year from Vybz Kartel and with Toian burning up the airwaves with “Rude Boys“, this single can go pretty far. OLDIES SUNDAY: @GraceJones – Pull Up To The Bumper (1981)

Today’s Oldies Sunday entry comes from Model/Singer/Actress, Grace Jones. Titled “Pull Up To The Bumper” and produced by Chris Blackwell and Alex Sadkin for Island Records in 1981, Grace’s lyrics were depicted to have sexual connotations and of course sparked some controversy at that time. With lyrics like “Pull up to my bumper baby, with your long black limousine..“, various media outlets refused to play it. It was revealed years later that the lyrics were not meant to have a sexual theme.

“Pull Up To The Bumper” was the third single off her fifth album, Nightclubbing, which was released in 1981. With her “New Wave” style of music that incorporated a fusion of uptempo Funk and R&B, the single became a hit. The song charted high in many countries and peaked at #2 on the US Hot Dance Club Songs chart. With its success, “Pull Up” was remixed many times and was covered by Dancehall artist Patra (Lady Patra) in 1995. Over the years it has been covered by other acts and even sampled on Hip Hop singles by Spice 1, Coolio and more. With her talents as a Model, Actress and Singer, Grace Jones went on to be a household name and a huge influence to many in the entertainment world boasting many more hits along the way.

Here he spoke on his upbringing in the UK, his love for music and his influences, challenges he has faced growing up and during the start of his career, how his first hit came about and being the first British Reggae act to score a #1 in the US, stardom locally and internationally, and many more. Today’s new video comes from an artist that aims to take over. Singer Ayo Jay, who hails from Lagos, Nigeria and sets up shops in New York and London, wants only one thing from the ladies and it’s their number. His video titled “Your Number“which was produced by One Nation Group and features the Atlanta based “Twerk Team“. Here we see Jay making his way into a party and greeting his friends when he came across a lovely lady who caught him off guard. From there he proceeds to dance with her and makes attempts to know her. Throughout the video we see Jay singing his hit while the Twerk Team show their moves. In the end he gets her number.
