OLDIES SUNDAY: @FederationSound x @IamTheKartel – From Time To Time (2003)

In recognition of Federation Sound’s 15th anniversary and Vybz Kartel’s career that has been stalled by his recent convictions, today’s Oldies Sunday selection comes in the form of a mixtape. Titled “From Time To Time“, this mixtape increased the popularity of Vybz Kartel and marked as the first collaboration between him and Federation Sound. Released in 2003, this mixtape featured hits from the artist, exclusive dubs and more that brought him from a local star to an International name to know. Founded in 1999 by Max Glazer, Kenny Meez, and Cipha Sounds, Federation Sound was formed to help bring Reggae music and message to all walks of life in the form of exclusive mixes and dubplates. With current members such as Alric & Boyd, and past member the late Disco D, Federation Sound became a force to be reckoned with in their 15 year career. Check out the mixtape below and share your thoughts in the comments section.

NEW VIDEO: @OnstageTV Interviews @RealJabba

JabbaTonight on Onstage, DJ Jabba of Hot 97, Massive B Sound, and Irie Jam Radio (to name a few of his many platforms) was a guest. Here he spoke about visiting his mother, being born in New York and his upbringing in Jamaica, his upcoming “Best of the Best” concert, thoughts on the Vybz Kartel trial and how it affects Dancehall Music worldwide, how promoting Dancehall Music differs in the U.S. and the difficulties faced when it comes to crossing over. Not a bad interview here, Jabba has been one of the top DJs overseas to bring the best of Dancehall to the streets and airwaves. Mixtape Movements: @PondEnds_Radio x @IamTheKartel – Unfair Trial

artworks-000074051155-x69hcn-t500x500Since Vybz Kartel’s guilty verdict a few days ago, members of the music fraternity and fans worldwide are still feeling the hit. Being one of the greats, Vybz has always had a solid work ethic when it came to recording songs. In a tribute of sorts PondEnds Radio has released a short mix that features some of Kartel’s latest recordings, couple old songs, and commentary from members of the music community. A great mix here, despite being away from the public for so long, his new material still managed to hit the airwaves. How many more years will he be away for? Will there be more music? Check out the mix below and share your thoughts in the comments section.

NEW VIDEO: @Hot97 Interviews @MrVegasMusic

VegasYesterday on Hot 97, Mr. Vegas made a guest appearance. Not a stranger to the radio station, he spoke to Cipha Sounds and Old Man Ebro about his origins including his stage names, his well publicized relationship woe and not seeing his daughter, his thoughts on Vybz Kartel’s trial and the guilty verdict, Buju Banton being in jail, trying to avoid getting in trouble, showing respect to Bounty Killa, his recording process, and highlighting that Jamaica has a lot of talent. Not a bad interview here, what I commend him for is despite having a feud with Bounty Killa, he shows him respect here and not throw him under a bus. Check out the video below and share your thoughts in the comments section.

NEW VIDEO: @BellaBlair21 – Ghetto Phone Conversations

TB

Can you relate to this? Dropping some new comedy is the one & only Toni Blair. Titled “Ghetto Phone Conversations” she goes into “ghetto mode” and expresses how some “ghetto” conversations are done. She goes from having chit chat with a friend, asking for money, partying on the weekend and marching for Vybz Kartel. Toni never disappoints with her skits and you’ll have a good laugh. Check out the video below and share your thoughts in the comments section.
