Prodii Deals With Loss On, “Heart Cry”

It’s never easy when it comes to losing people. It’s even harder when it’s a loved one. While many look forward to celebrating their parents on Mother’s and Father’s Day respectively, there are those who mourn, and miss the interactions with theirs. Dancehall Artist Prodii is one of those who is dealing with loss, and he expresses his pain in, “Heart Cry“.

Produced by Juvi9ine/Pela, Prodii deals with the loss of his Mother in, “Heart Cry”. The Deejay goes through the different emotions throughout, and many will relate as he recalls the times when his Mother fell ill, his episodes where he tried to cope with the loss, to admitting to not wanting to go on without her, and replacing his life with hers. The accompanying Music Video shot by UnveiledOfficial-i2s and C4 Visuals shares Prodii in a grieving state, and clips of the Funeral procession for his Mother. International Dancehall/Reggae Ambassador Shaggy is a student of the music. Despite having a well-decorated music career, he always salutes those who have paved the way for him and others to go. It’s not hard to know when you listen to his catalogue as he finds ways to mold a classic tune into something for the new generation to enjoy. Recently, he had a chat with Kadia Francis of Jamaicans.com, and he had a lot to share.

In his new Interview with Jamaicans.com, Shaggy spoke on the significance of the late Producer Henry “Junjo” Lawes, his many contributions to the culture, being a foundation for Dancehall, and how Shaggy pays tribute to his work with the release of his new “Badman Riddim” Compilation. The new Riddim was previewed in 2024 with singles from Spice (who he shared a great deal about), Junior Cat, and Shaggy and Olaf Blackwood, and is set to be fully released later this year. Shaggy also spoke on his “Mr. Symphonic” project with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, and how important it was to do something like this to expand on his creativity. He also shared his views on the newer crop of Dancehall Artists, name dropping a few who have shown up on his radar, and highlighted how necessary it is to stand out as an Artist. He also emphasized the importance of musical foundations, and there should be more to learn from previous generations, to assist in developing future generations. “Mr. Boombastic” shared plenty in this Interview, and listeners will be intrigued and motivated, especially when they learn how some of his hits were just sitting on hard drives before being released.

Earlier this year, Dancehall Artist 1Ski OG made his official debut as an International Artist with the release of the singles, “Feel Like“, and “Double Life“. The Against Da Grain Ent/Epic Records signee has been steadily building his name overseas, but he still has more work to do. As he covers more ground, he follows up with the video for the new single, “Stay To Mi Self“.

Directed by SupaDope, 1Ski OG has to be on guard when it comes to everyday life in, “Stay To Mi Self”. He speaks on family and friends who have betrayed him, seeing people who he had love and respect for for who they really are, trusting his own space and company first before getting caught up in the darkness that could cause him irreparable damage. 1Ski continues to share music covering various topics and themes, and his International debut is just the tip of what else he has lined up. Fans can look forward to even more music as he prepares for a Summer takeover. Stay cautious, it’s crazy out there.

Scrptiid Creates Waves With New “Ocean” Visual

US-based Dancehall Artist Scrptiid has been on the scene for a number of years, and has been putting in the work to become an Artist you need to know. With a number of tracks under his belt, he’s carefully targeting his audience, and deliver music that will connect instantly. With the time getting warmer, he looks to have some fun times with the ladies. He recently shared the video for the single, “Ocean“.

Directed by Lagikz Supreme and shot in Ocho Rios, Scrptiid wants to have the ladies caught up in a passion that’s not easy to lose grasp of, make a splash in more ways than one, and keep them coming back like the waves in  “Ocean”. The visual finds him keeping his love interest entertained throughout, with intentions of them making amazing times happen. Produced by GRAMMY-nominated Producer Astyle Alive, “Ocean” has an intoxicating AfroDancehall sound that’s ready for the beach, and the numerous parties that will be held this year. The young Artist looks forward to listeners keeping the single in their Playlist rotations, and has already gained great support for the video since its release a few days ago. No matter what’s going on in the world, always remember this, when someone is determined, nothing can stop them. Take Recording Artist Jurick, he didn’t allow his situations to hold him back from making music. He survived some unfortunate circumstances, but lives to tell his tale, and provides music that connects with the people. Recently, he shared the visual for the single, “Deepest Valley“.

Directed by VSR Media, Jurick turns his experiences into motivational music in, “Deepest Valley”. He speaks on the dark times he went through, almost dying, and losing hope, but he has been delivered by a greater power, and he’s given a purpose to bring the people to glory. Produced by Penny Bling Productions and Visually Sound Records (VSR), the Deejay is a walking testimony that you can overcome the dark days, and his presentation is one that will be received by many. Jurick has built a solid catalogue so far, and it will get better. For those who facing difficult times, take a listen to this one.

OLDIES SUNDAY: Delroy Wilson – Emy Lou (1963)

May is recognized as “Child’s Month“, and on “Oldies Sunday“, we highlight some of the Child Stars of yesteryear. For today’s entry, we bring you Jamaica’s first Child Star, Delroy Wilson with the track, “Emy Lou“.

Produced by “Sir Coxsone” Dodd and released through the Supreme Label in 1963, Delroy Wilson is infatuated by a young Woman named, “Emy Lou”. He shares that even if she’s avoiding him, or even taken by another, he still has the eyes for her. This Ska release was Wilson’s debut single, and even though it didn’t create waves at first, it opened doors for him to score official hits as a Teen, and later on as an Adult. From Ska to Rocksteady to Reggae, Wilson’s name was big in the world, and he gained in many ways through music. Delroy Wilson passed away in 1995, but left behind a legacy that is celebrated by the young and old. His son Karl, known to the world as Konan from “Krept And Konan“, paid tribute to him earlier this year with the single, “Delroy’s Son“.
