Dropping off the first single off his upcoming “Olympus EP” is the Youngest x Baddest member, DJ Ariez. Here he remixes the Iggy Azalea and Charli XCX single, “Fancy“. Throwing his own production to the track, Ariez adds more hype to the Australian Rapper’s hit. Not a bad effort here from the DJ as remixing popular singles isn’t a rare thing in Jamaica and has been known to be a hit at parties. Recently Deejay Shabba Ranks made a visit to Jamaica but during his short stay he managed to do what he hasn’t done locally in decades…record music. Traveling with a mob in Half Way Tree, Winford Williams managed to catch Shabba to speak on a few things. Here Shabba spoke about being in Jamaica to celebrate Mother’s Day, recording in Jamaica for the first time in many years, visiting his old communities, his views on Dancehall recently including the conviction of Vybz Kartel, family life, and possibilities of performing in Jamaica again. Good to see Shabba still doing his thing and his new single sounds great from the preview that was provided. Get together that “Gorilla Money” promoters. Today’s new music comes from the SubKonshus CEO, Konshens. Titled “Don Daddy (SuperCat Style)” and produced by Shane Brown on the “Greatest Creation Riddim“, Konz pays tribute to Deejay SuperCat and his 20+ year old song, “Don Dada“. Konz borrowed a little of SuperCat’s flow over this production where he spoke about being a champion, his start in the music business, name drops his SubK team, and also shows respect to the foundation deejays like Lady Saw, Josey Wales, Bounty Killa and Shabba Ranks. While many prepare for the day’s activities on Labor Day, some are “laboring” as we speak. Tonight, a new Vybz Kartel single may just be the spark to help out with tonight’s “toil“. Titled “Tun Back Way” and produced by Markus Records on the “Sex Mate Riddim“, we hear Vybz speaking on how he wants his lady to entice him and thrill him with various moves.
