OLDIES SUNDAY: Killamanjaro Vs Bodyguard Sound Clash (1997)

Posted on by swadedavillain

While many are still feeling the vibes from last night’s staging of the Redbull Culture Clash, we’ve decided to take you all back a lil on Oldies Sunday! Today we go back to the year 1997 to check out one of Killamanjaro Sound System and Bodyguard Sounds‘ many sound clashes. Held in May Pen, Clarendon, Selectors Ricky Trooper (Killamanjaro) and Fire Links (Bodyguard) both went dub for dub, and song for song with their teams in a clash that is still a memorable one for many. With dubplates and songs from the likes of Monster Shack Crew, Bounty Killa, Sizzla, Beenie Man, and Shabba Ranks with plenty tough talk accompanying them, this clash was a hot one.

While many may have varied opinions on last night’s event, it’s always good to look back at some of the classic Sound Clashes. Let’s hope the floor is open to even more with huge sponsorships, and the rise of more Sound Systems. Check out the clash below and share with a friend. Kicking off your Friday with some fire is Recording Artist Blvk H3ro! Continuing his run of releasing great music, he drops, “Cashew Tree“! Teaming up with Producer Drum Fingerz on this one, you can find Blvk H3ro floating over the beat with his signature sound, but switching it up now and then. The Two Fold Creative Studios directed Visualizer that accompanies the track finds Blvk busting out dance moves, and giving you a Neo-Dancehall vibe throughout that you can’t help joining in.

With a year that has seen him release his debut album, dishing out more singles, being a part of Fashion spreads, and performing from Kingston to New York, Blvk H3ro has come a long way, and has much more to go. Do you remember the first time you heard his music? What was the song you heard? Let us know in the comments section.

Blvk H3ro and his music will stand tall like a Cashew Tree, and he will definitely make an impact like the Deejay whose Government name is Earlon Bartley. Check out the track below, and share with a friend. Show us some love/follow us on Twitter and Instagram at @13thStreetPromo.

.@ManeenMusic Enters Storytelling Mode In The @JLLProd Produced, “Nanny Bag Part 2”!

Posted on by swadedavillain

Jamaicans have a thing for storytelling. If it didn’t start with something similar to “Me have a piece a mixup fi gi yuh deh…” or “Come mek me gi yuh joke…“, you won’t be thoroughly entertained. Today’s storytelling comes in the form of song, and the person delivering it is a “Tech Boss” who is also a Recording Artist by the name of Mannin Marsh a.k.a. Ma’neen! Making his official debut, he drops the track, “Nanny Bag Part 2“. Produced by J.L.L. (who has been on a roll this year), Ma’neen tells the story about a young Jamaican “Rude Boy” who tries to avoid arrest by leveraging his relationship with the Police Officer’s girlfriend. The story features meetings on the “Endz“, lots of weed smoke, Panama, awesome production, and a whole lot more! Artwork for the single was beautifully done by Richard Nattoo a.k.a. DJ Sinista.

“Nanny Bag Part 2” is the first release from the upcoming EP titled “Sexy Reggae“, which features Ma’neen showcasing even more abilities over more J.L.L. productions. We expect this EP to drop in early 2020. Grab a chair and kick off yuh shoes because Ma’neen a go pop story gi yuh!
