Minister of Youth & Culture Lisa Hanna is a looker. She didn’t win Miss World 1993 hiding behind a veil did she? With a recent photo of the Minister sporting a bikini and a t shirt, members of the Jamaican public expressed some distaste for the photo along with the cheers. With their single burning up the airwaves (and causing some controversy), I Octane and Vanessa Bling teamed up to bring you the Music Video for “Cyaa Do It“. Directed by Sasha Bling, we see the artists making moves to see each other on the low while maintaining their current relationships. A very clean and fun video here and it depicts how some people do get sneaky in their relationships. Nobody haffi know baby. What do you think of this? Today’s Oldies Sunday selection comes from a great singer, Boris Gardiner. Titled “Every Nigger Is A Star” and produced by Leal Records in 1973, this was created in the era of Blaxploitation Films and strong Black Pride. Boris created this song as an effort to bring a positive tone to the word “Nigger” the same way Hip Hop music has been doing today in various songs. Boris also sang about loneliness, reflecting on Africa, and acceptance and recognition of the black man. The song was featured on the soundtrack that he and his brother Barrington were contracted to make for the movie of the same name. The movie was made also in an effort to bring a change to the word, but turned out to be a huge flop in Theaters.
After finding fame through a viral video a few weeks ago, Gully Bop has turned into a hot commodity in the Dancehall circles. With bookings that include Sting 2014 and tracks like “Body Specialist“, Gully joined Winford Williams tonight to have a chat. Here he spoke on his new found fame, his background as Dancehall artist “Country Man“, how his rise to fame came about, his singles and announcing there will be more to come, Sting 2014 and a possible clash with Ninja Man, and living in Grants Pen. To show that he’s not a fluke, accompanied by MC Nuffy, Gully Bop performed “My God Dem Nuh Bad Like Me“, “Body Specialist” and dropped some entertaining freestyles. Here he spoke on not seeing Masicka worthy of a clash and threw a few shots at him, enjoying a very successful year, Sting 2014, and aiming to make more hits. He also gave a sneak peek at his “Puppy Tail” music video. As much as Demarco said he’s not seeing Masicka worthy of a clash, I believe they will throw more jabs.
