Logiq Asks For “Protection” In New Video

It’s a cold world, and some hearts are pretty cold out there, but we make it a daily thing to ask the almighty for guidance through the dark times. For Trinibad artist Logiq, he needs God to watch his back in the video for his latest track, “Protection“.

Directed by LE Production a.k.a. Lord Edit, Logiq connects with nature to escape the craziness of the city, and speaks with God as he needs to be protected from those who oppose him and want to see him fail in life. When he’s back in civilization however, we see an instance of someone being fake towards him while conversing with a young lady. The badmind is real, you just have to be vigilant. Let Jah guide your steps, and not let the enemy prosper over your life. A great selection from one of the latest Trinibad artists out!

OLDIES SUNDAY (Christmas): Orchestre Tropicana D’Haiti – 24 Decembre (1988)

It’s that time of year again! Despite Covid 19 taking over everything including the holidays, some of us are still showing a lil Christmas spirit. We’ve always made space for some Christmas songs on the blog, and this year’s no different. On Oldies Sunday Christmas Edition, we head on over to Haiti to kick things off with the Orchestre Tropicana D’Haiti with the track, “24 Decembre“!

Released in 1988 through Louis Records, Orchestre Tropicana D’Haiti brought together beautiful instrumentation and vocals that celebrated the Christmas season and promoted unity and family throughout. “24 Decembre” or “December 24” is recognized as Christmas Eve, and Caribbean folks celebrate it through parties and a “Grand Market” where shoppers get their last minute gifts, or take in various events throughout. Though performed in Haitian Creole style of Compas, the music can still be felt by anyone who is around who hears it. “24 Decembre” is featured on the band’s 1988 album, “25ème Printemps (25th Spring)“. With over 40 years in, Orchestre Tropicana D’Haiti is still performing and entertaining many with their selections.

Canadian Vocalist Emanuel is an artist on the rise who has been making great strides this year. With vocals that touch many and possessing a steady following, it won’t be long till the world fully gets familiar with him. With a great debut single, “Need You“, and his “Alt Therapy Session” EP series taking flight before his 2021 debut album release, he is leaving marks in key places. Having made a huge impression with the single, “Black Woman” last month, he is joined by two Jamaican greats for the remix!

Produced by the legendary Supa Dups and featuring “Singy Singy” Tarrus Riley, Emanuel’s single gets a makeover filled with great Reggae production with an amazing pairing of vocals that will surely put a smile on the Black Queens worldwide. The original track featured production by the legendary Kardinal Offishall, John Fellner, and Ryan Bakalarczyk. Linking up with Tarrus according to Emanuel “felt like the stars were aligning“. “I know Tarrus Riley from going to the parties of my Jamaican friends where they play music that’s big and nostalgic for them. His song ‘She’s Royal’ is just huge, people are still bumping it in 2020! I think people really appreciate the legacy of that song and the link up is really big for what ‘Black Woman’ means and what I want the legacy of ‘Black Woman’ to be. To have him on it, it felt like the stars were aligning. Produced by 3Keyz Records, Joby Jay shares the emotions she experiences in a challenging relationship. It’s never easy when a partner can be difficult, but Joby shares that she loves and needs him in her life, but the conflicts can take a toll. Sometimes people can be difficult, some need a smack on the head, but some people just need a chance to do and be better. Many will relate to this track, and Joby presents it in a great way for easy listening. Shout out the couples that are going through it.
