Consisting of 5 tracks and released through his PLVNET 9 label, he shows listeners that he’s still on his way to getting things done even during a pandemic. The EP gets backed by Trap production, and features a guest appearance by fellow PLVNET 9 member Dada Mafia. The Jamaican Hip Hop movement continues to grow over the year, and has branched out in various ways. Get familiar.

His first release since his partnership with RCA Records and Six Course Music, Protoje shows us that despite a few new changes, his formula is still timeless. With a lineup that includes Popcaan, Koffee, Lila Ike, and Wiz Khalifa, expect nothing but great offerings throughout. Backed by production from iotosh, Winta James, Supa Dups, Di Genius, Ziah, Natural High Music, and The Grei Show, you’ll be swayed by the Riddims as well. Will this be the album that not only gets the Grammy nom, but take home that golden award? Recording Artist HeartBreakQuotey was a young legend in Toronto, Canada. For those who knew him, he was always making things happen, and lit up the scene. An artist who stayed on the grind over the years, he gave listeners a style that wasn’t like anyone else’s. Sadly, he passed away recently, and to keep his name alive, his brother and Producer DJ Blkluos released the project called, “2 Fly 2 Be Broke“.

Featuring 12 tracks, listeners will get a chance to learn what goes on in the mind of HBQ. With production from DJ Blkluos, Ryan Whiskey, and JaymeFromThe9, we get a dose of throwback Hip Hop, Trap, and R&B sounds that do a great job of backing up HBQ’s lyrics. The mixtape also has guest appearances from DopeFa$e, Enaledge, 73V1NN, Jane Doe Smith, and Joe Law who made sure it was extra fire. While death may affect us in various ways, it’s always best to cherish to good times of the ones you’ve lost. For new and old fans of HeartBreakQuotey, we ask you like him live on through the music. R.I.P. HBQ 🙏🏽

Never stopped waving the flag for Jamaican Hip Hop, Rapper Five Steez has been putting in the necessary work to make the “First Coast” an official thing. With a decade plus in the biz, he has showcased his sound that has stayed true to the Hip Hop roots, and commands a presence that’s respected worldwide. With plenty projects to his name, one of them stood out for a time, and that was 2016’s “HeatRockz” with Producer Mordecai. In 2020, the duo follow it up with “HeatRockz 2.0“!

With 4 tracks loaded plus a bonus track that’s available with the EP’s purchase, Five Steez continues to display his passion for the art, and dabbles in a style that pays respect to the OGs, while still being modern. Mordecai on the other hand, shows growth in his production from the last project, and still gives Steez and listeners some head bopping sounds. If you’re a follower of Five Steez, you know he has a lot more in store before the end of the year. With the Saharan Dust kicking up the heat all over the world, it’s nothing when it comes to the new releases from Buju Banton and Vybz Kartel that are gonna be scorchers this summer! Once again proving that Prison can’t hold him down, Vybz Kartel emerges with the highly anticipated album, “Of Dons & Divas“, followed by  Buju Banton with his also highly anticipated 11th studio album (12 if you count the rerelease album, “Quick”, and minus the compilations), “Upside Down 2020“.

Loaded with 18 tracks, “Of Dons & Divas” is Vybz Kartel’s 2nd album release this year following the hugely popular, “To: Tanesha“. With features from Lisa Hyper, Teejay, Tommy Lee Sparta, Skillibeng, Lisa Mercedez, Sikka Rhymes, and many more, fans of the “World Boss” can rejoice for new music that will hold them over till more singles drop. While Vybz Kartel maintains a presence through Instagram, only one can wonder how he manages to still release music from Prison after all these years away from physically being in the streets.

With his release from a nearly 10 year bid in 2018, Buju Banton got the fans going with new music. With “Upside Down 2020”, he looks to step back to the forefront of the music culture where he reigned supreme. With 20 tracks onboard, and features from Stefflon Don, John Legend, Pharrell, and Stephen Marley, Buju is in top form, and looks to reintroduce himself to the world in 2020 and beyond. The album packs a flavour for everyone’s tastes, and promises to be a repeater for a long time to come.
