Dancehall Artist Ayetian has been enjoying quite the buzz in recent months thanks to his music releases. Known for bringing a different kind of energy in his music, he has been getting co-signs from the likes of Tommy Lee Sparta, and Trinidad’s own Machel Montano. Speaking of Machel, he recently collaborated with the rising Deejay on the track, “Truth & Balance“. With that song bubbling locally and Internationally, they gave it even more power with a new remix.

Produced by DJ Mac/BlacksTheMan/Machel Montano/1stKlase, Ayetian and Machel called up US Singer/Songwriter Ne-Yo to give the “Truth & Balance (Remix)” some added flavour for the ladies. Ne-Yo is no stranger to being featured on a Dancehall track, nor is he one to a Jamaican stage, and his contribution to the track opens even more doors for domination on the  International market. Ayetian and Machel both deliver on the original, and we can expect a Music Video for the remix to be a banger. Ayetian rising stardom will get an upgrade in the coming months, and with Summer on the horizon, that shouldn’t be farfetched. Ladies it’s time to bruk out again.

OLDIES SUNDAY: Garifuna Kids – Baila Baila (1993)

Closing off “Black History Month” on “Oldies Sunday“, we wanted to not only give you a past hit, but introduce to an audience something they haven’t heard before. While Reggae, Soca, Calypso, Reggaeton etc. are signature sounds from the Caribbean/Latin America, we wanted to share some Garifuna Music. The Afro-Indigenous people of Central America and Saint Vincent and The Grenadines introduced it with sounds originating from West Africa, then spread it to countries like Belize and Honduras, and was given the Proclamation of Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity title by UNSECO in 2001. Today, we highlight Belizean group the Garifuna Kids, and their track, “Baila Baila“.

Released through Rochez Brothers Entertainment in 1993, the Garifuna Kids brought great vibes and high energy with “Baila Baila”. The track drew inspiration from Punta Rock (a sub-genre of Garifuna Music), while the production was a mix of traditional Instruments, callbacks, and melodies that had everyone truly dancing. The track quickly caught on shortly after its release, and was featured on the group’s 1993 album of the same name. The country of Belize was home to many Garifuna musicians, and Garifuna Music was one of the sounds that empowered the people. The Garifuna Kids are still an active group, and continue to perform in Belize and other parts of the world, keeping the culture alive in the process. “Baila Baila” remains one of the group’s most memorable songs, and has been getting some recognition over the years on Social Media.

Freedom sweet, ain’t it? Vybz Kartel has been enjoying it like never before. Currently in the England, the Deejay has been on a comeback journey since July 31, 2024, and he’s just getting started. A welcome back Concert, new singles, reconnecting with many, and enjoying life and love, he is grateful. Speaking of reconnecting, he did just that recently with the legendary Busta Rhymes, and earlier they released the new collaboration called, “Crazy“.

Produced by Hitmaker and featuring the legendary Akon, Busta Rhymes and Vybz Kartel solidify their friendship even more, and gave us another collaboration in, “Crazy”. Busta gives us some of his signature bars while Akon shows why he is in the league of greats, and Vybz shares his new and positive outlook on life, with the declaration that “God is the greatest”. The last time Busta and Vybz collaborated was on “The Don & The Boss” from 2021, so them being in the same space together for this new track was nothing short of a blessing. Remember when Vybz remixed Akon’s hit single “Locked Up“? Good times. Here’s to more collaborations.

Circa Eleven Starts The Party Early With 3 New Releases

Production Duo Circa Eleven has been putting in the work over the years, and they’re not slowing down on the output. Last year they secured a number of collaborations, and even released a Christmas EP. This time around, they’re throwing parties, and they want to start early with 3 new releases from JayYGT, Gio Mar, Brush 1, and 1CDon.

 Circa Eleven released “Mamacita” with 1CDon, “Give It To Me” with JayYGT and Gio Mar, and “Waistline” with Brush 1 and Gio Mar, and listeners have been tuning in. Circa tapped into 3 genres this time around, Dancehall, Soca, and Dembow. On “Give It To Me”, JayYGT and Gio Mar deliver something spicy for the ladies, Brush 1 and Gio Mar aim to get the ladies dancing in the Fete on the energetic “Waistline”, and 1CDon goes bilingual with the lyrics for the ladies in “Mamacita”. In the end, Circa Eleven threw a party that was made for everybody. They continue to showcase their diversity, and we can expect even more stand out collaborations later this year. The Valentine’s Weekend may be over, but the love is still happening. Some may have focused on just that one day, but what about the rest of the year? Enter JungleGod with something new to keep things bubbling. Tune in to his latest project, “From Jungle With Love“.

Released on Valentine’s Day, JungleGod provided 14 tracks for the lovers with “From Jungle With Love”. Sometimes putting the message in a song is the easiest way to do it, and Jungle gives listeners a number of way to express their love over production that taps into R&B, Dancehall, Pop, Reggae, and Hip Hop sounds. Jungle deals with love in various forms on this project, and he invited the likes of Robert “Dubwise” Browne, Jaivanni, David TV Barnes, and his RSNY brethren to make their contributions to the project. It’s Reggae Month in Jamaica, and we continue to show respect to those who have contributed to the further development and success of Reggae on “Oldies Sunday“. Today’s entry highlights a Jamaican Rockstar who helped to set the standard. We look back at Jimmy Cliff, and his track, “We All Are One“.

Produced by Amir Bayyan, Jim Bonnefond, and Ronald Bell and released through Columbia/CBS in 1983, Jimmy Cliff promoted unity in “We All Are One”. Cliff reminds us that despite our race, age, culture, and nationality, we are all human with similar qualities and features at the end of the day, and we should treat each other better. Cliff delivers melodies over some solid production that taps into Reggae and Pop sounds, and “We All Are One” quickly became a hit for him. The single was featured on Cliff’s GRAMMY-nominated 1983 album, “The Power And The Glory“. Jimmy Cliff was one of the Artists who helped in bringing Reggae to International popularity in the early stages, and has inspired many around the world.

Since the release of “We All Are One”, Jimmy Cliff went on to release more music. He is a 2 time GRAMMY winner, was given the Order of Merit by the Government of Jamaica, was assigned as a Peace Ambassador for the United Nations, has been a part of many Humanitarian campaigns, and continues to contribute to the extension of Reggae music around the world. “We All Are One” remains one of his memorable hits.
