Jamaican Music continues to make a bigger presence in more of the things we enjoy, and we love it. Recently, Video Streaming giant Netflix released the Sci-Fi drama, “The Kitchen“. The Film stars British Rapper/Actor Kane “Kano” Robinson and Jedaiah Bannerman, and was directed by Kibwe Tavares, and Daniel Kaluuya, known for the Films “Black Panther“, and “Get Out“. The British Film focuses on the characters Izi and Benji (Played by Robinson and Bannerman respectively) as the manoeuvre through a dystopian future London, as residents of the housing project, “The Kitchen”. The Film is filled with great visuals, and a selection of music that range from 80s hits, to Afrobeat, to UK Rap, to familiar Jamaican music that we share with you below.

Music from “The Kitchen” included the Jamaican hits “Stay So” by Dancehall Artist Busy Signal, and a dub version of “Walk Away From Love” from British Reggae Singer, Bitty McLean. “Stay So” was produced by Dameon Gayle for Warriors Musick on the “New Box Riddim“, and released in 2017. “Walk Away From Love” is a cover of US Singer David Ruffin’s 1975 hit, and featured production from the era of Duke Reid productions on his Treasure Isle label. Both the dub and single versions of “Walk Away” are featured on McLean’s 2004 album, “On Bond Street KGN. JA.“. Both songs have made significant marks in the careers of the respective Artists, and adds to the ever-stirring pot of cultures that Immigrants have shared with the British scene as highlighted in the Film. “The Kitchen” has already gained favourable reviews online, and is a top 10 Film on Netflix. With its comedic element, “Your Honour” quickly became a hit for Pluto Shervington, securing a place in the UK Top 20 Music Chart. The song was included on the albums “Pluto” and “Again“.

No matter what’s going on in the world, Mortimer will step out with a love song. The Reggae Artist has been busy recording and performing in recent months, and even made appearances on records for other Artists. Teejay x Valiant "Homage (Day Ones)" on 13thStreetPromotions.com #Jamaica #Dancehall #Music #13thStreetPromotions #Teejay #Valiant #Homage #DayOnes #DamageMusiq #Caribbean

.@DamageMusiq Shares Teejay/Valiant “Homage (Day Ones)” Track Despite Possible Beef

Dancehall Music has seen its share of beefs over the years, from the biggest of stars, to upcoming acts. While clashes and diss tracks are exciting, we sometimes never know what the possibilities can be if those opponents actually collaborated. This week among a few beefs happening, Teejay and Valiant have stepped out with conflict. Two Artists who have had an amazing 2023 are now at odds during which would be another big year for them. Amidst the drama, we get a collaborated that was to see the light of day later this year called, “Homage (Day Ones)“.

Produced by Damage Musiq, “Homage (Day Ones)” finds Teejay and Valiant making a dedication to the loyal friends, the real ones, and the friends who have become family. Despite the pending beef between the two Artists (Honestly, wouldn’t be surprised if this beef was fabricated.), this is a track that is needed in times like these where backstabbing is common, and disloyalty is the new trend. Teejay is set to release the “I Am Chippy EP” next month, while Valiant is busy with new music and bookings. When this beef ends, we look forward to more from them. In the meantime, press play.
