J’Calm Releases Debut Album, “Niche”

2023 turned out to be a breakout year for many Artists. Recording Artist/Producer J’Calm was one of the names that made some noise throughout the year. Thanks to the single, “Tempted“, he caught the attention of many, including a former US President, went viral on TikTok, and many began anticipating more from him. Luckily, he was working on an album called “Niche“, and it’s out now.

Featuring 13 tracks and released through RoseGold Records, J’Calm looks to make a difference with “Niche”. The debut album taps into Dancehall, Pop, Afrosounds, Reggae, R&B, and Hip Hop elements, with topics that many can relate to. J’Calm boasts his production prowess handling the Lion’s share of the album, except one track which was handled by Emudio Records. The 2023 hit “Tempted” is included, and listeners will be drawn in to the other offerings, making them key items in their music collection. “Niche” is J’Calm’s way of saying, “I’m here, and i’m not going anywhere!” Tune in today.

He has the style, he has the vocals, and he has solidified himself as a legend in Jamaican music. He captivates the ladies, he makes the crowd sway to his music, and his name is Dexta Daps. Today (January 12) marks his birthday, and he celebrates it in one of the best ways with the release of his latest album, “Trilogy“.

“Trilogy” is the follow up to the much-celebrated “VENT” album, and Dexta Daps is once again at his best here. Featuring 16 tracks, Dexta has something for everyone here, with a few dedicated to the ladies to enjoy over and over. The new album is a celebration of the staying power of the Dancehall Crooner, and this is just a preview of what’s to come for the Artist this year. Production from the album include the likes of Slingerz Records, TJ Records, Sean Alaric, and Majorseven while Alaine, Masicka, Jada Kingdom, Chronic Law, and Rally Banks make appearances on the album. Another solid effort from Dexta Daps.

2023 saw the continued rise of one of Japan’s leaders in Dancehall, Hibikilla. The veteran Artist has dedicated a portion of his life to the music, and the people have been showing a lot of love. While he has been active, the fans needed an album from him. He fulfilled their request with the release of, “Killertune“.

“Killertune” is Hibikilla’s first album in 12 years, and it is some of his best work to date. Packed with 12 tracks, the Deejay shows a renewed energy on the album as he gives us the hard-hitting lyrics that reflect on some of his experiences and ambitions, dabbles in various flows and deliveries, and shows that he is as potent as ever with his artistry. “Killertune” features an array of different sounds that Hibikilla handles with ease, including production from the likes of Young Beats Instrumental and EJ Fya, and the Deejay shares with the spotlight with KOTA, Tach-B, Laya, and DABO. We were due a new project from Dancehall Artist Aidonia. The past few years saw a couple announcements, but a lot has been going on for the Deejay. He has been dealing with loss, and creating and performing through grieving times, but he has been seeing a ray of light in his dark times, and he reached for it. With plenty positives happening for him, he has decided to go on a hiatus to focus on what’s important to him other than the music. Before he steps down however, he gives us the new project, “Occupied Mind“.

The 23-track “Occupied Mind” was announced some time ago, and is a compilation of some of Aidonia’s previous releases along with some new tunes. Aidonia has always delivered solid music, and his diversity continues throughout the project. Production includes the likes of his Banga House MG imprint, Emudio, Haunted House, Darshan, Mill Beatz, and others. While Aidonia is no stranger to collaborations, Govana is his sole collaborator on this project (Hopefully we can get their “Brother’s Keeper” collab project in the future). Aidonia has given us 20 years of dedicated service, he deserves his time away. Let’s all enjoy this “Occupied Mind”.

For over a decade, Dancehall Artist Masicka has grown from an upcoming Artist, to a young legend in Jamaican music. 2021 saw his career elevate to a new level with the release of his debut album, “438“. The critically-acclaimed project quickly built up anticipation for a follow up, and the Deejay promised to fulfill the request in due time. He announced his signing to the iconic Def Jam Records this past Spring, and went straight to work. Today, the finished work has arrived in the form of the new album, “Generation Of Kings“.

Featuring 17 tracks, Masicka looks to deliver another classic with the release of “Generation Of Kings”. Making his major label debut with Def Jam Records, the “Genahsyde Boss” is ready for the takeover. The Deejay gives us his usual great music for the ladies, the Gangstas, and the yutes here over solid production, but shows the listener that he has matured a lot in his career. Production include the likes of Dunw3ll, Mozeeko, Boi1da, and Fortune. Like his previous album, he brought along a few friends including Spice, Dexta Daps, Lila Ike, Chronic Law, Popcaan, Fave, and Fridayy. The conversation has already started about “G.O.K.” possibly being better than “438”, and while we won’t contribute to that, we encourage you to celebrate another milestone from an Artist dedicated to his craft. 1Syde till the land slide.
