Rygin King & @DamianMarley Speak On Growth In “Things Done Change”

Dancehall Artist Rygin King has been on the road to recovery for quite some time, and has used the music as a form of therapy to express his feelings, and help to lighten the mental load. Fans have been gravitating to his music and efforts outside of the studio, and he looks to do even more. For his latest collaboration, he teams up with the self-appointed “Youngest Veteran” in, “Things Done Change“.

Directed by Third World Don and Sherval TheSheep, “Things Done Change” features a collaboration with Rygin King, and Damian “Junior Gong” Marley. A collaboration we never knew we needed, and together they reflect on their beginnings, their experiences, and speak on their growth as Men in this world. One can’t stay the same, they have to grow and depart from things that will hold back that growth. “Things Done Change” is the latest single from Rygin King’s “Recovery” album, which is set to be released on June 14. Two giants in their own lanes team up for something great.

.@DamianMarley Covers The @GeorgeHarrison Classic, “My Sweet Lord”

When it comes to the “Marley” name, it has transcended generations. Damian “Junior Gong” Marley has faithfully carried on the legacy of his father Bob Marley, and created his own legacy that will be carried on by his offspring. For his latest release, he has tapped into another name that has contributed to another name that transcended generations. Marley steps out with “My Sweet Lord“.

The self-produced “My Sweet Lord” is Damian Marley’s Reggae cover of the 1970 classic that was performed by the late George Harrison. Harrison was a former member of the Iconic Rock band, The Beatles, and “My Sweet Lord” was his debut release as a solo Artist. It was also the first #1 song to be released by a ex-Beatle. Marley shared his love of the track recently, and was unaware that his father had crossed paths with the Rock band during their heyday. Marley didn’t do anything extra with the track, just lent his voice, bringing together fans of Junior Gong, Bob Marley, George Harrison, and The Beatles together. Hallelujah!

.@DamianMarley Shares The History Of Virginia Key Beach In “Life Is A Circle” Video

Reggae Music has always been something that entertains, but it also seeks to educate fans as well. Known for dropping lyrical selections but also delivering knowledge and conscious music, DamianJunior GongMarley continues to do just that. Today, we check out the video for the single, “Life Is A Circle“.

Directed by B+ and shot in Miami, Florida, Junior Gong not only gives us a performance of his single, but schools us on the history of the Virginia Key Beach (the video’s true location) which was Miami’s first “Colored Only” Beach which welcomed Black people and other marginalized communities. We learned that the Beach was possible due to many protests, and over the years faced closures until it was considered an ecological treasure and re-opened for good in 2008. Always something of high quality when it comes to Junior Gong, a living legend.

Dancehall & Reggae Music continue to influence many worldwide whether through the various sounds, lyrics, or even some of the people who create from the genres. Today’s entry is no different as famed Hip Hop Producer 9th Wonder dabbled in a bit of the sounds in his latest compilation album, “Jamla Is The Squad 2“! While the album features a host of tracks for every flavour, it’s the opening track that will surprise and awe many. On “Welcome To JamRoc“, the opening vocals come courtesy of Dancehall Artist Quick Cook, while the following production samples Damian “Junior Gong” Marley’sWelcome To JamRock“, and Ini Kamoze’sWorld A Music“. With 9th tackling the production, Rapsody, Heather Victoria, GQ, Reuben Vincent, and Ian Kelly provide the lyrics that go well with the dope sounds. This isn’t the first time 9th sampled Jamaican music as he borrowed sounds from The Mighty Diamonds on the tracks “L.A.” and “Bad Man” by MURS, and Third World on the track “Let It Go” by Little Brother. If you’re a Hip Hop head, then you’re familiar with Chicago Rapper Lupe Fiasco. He has collaborated with the likes of Kanye West and Jay Z, and gave us hits like “Superstar“, “Kick, Push“, and “The Show Goes On“. Recently, he released his 7th studio album, “DROGAS WAVE” with enough bars to keep fans happy till the next project. What made this project more interesting, is Lupe tapping into some Jamaican influences here. On “Gold vs the Right Things to do“, he utilizes patois throughout, and although it may make some of us cringe, he drops some serious lines in this one to make up for it (he did a better job than these Actors in this article). On “Kingdom” he teams up with another potent lyricist, Damian “Junior Gong” Marley as they unleash more consciousness into the world. For those familiar with Lupe, this project is a great listen and has garnered positive reviews so far. If you’re new here and into lyrics, you can’t go wrong with Lupe.
