OLDIES SUNDAY: Boris Gardiner – Every N***** Is A Star (1973)

Today’s Oldies Sunday selection comes from a great singer, Boris Gardiner. Titled “Every Nigger Is A Star” and produced by Leal Records in 1973, this was created in the era of Blaxploitation Films and strong Black Pride. Boris created this song as an effort to bring a positive tone to the word “Nigger” the same way Hip Hop music has been doing today in various songs. Boris also sang about loneliness, reflecting on Africa, and acceptance and recognition of the black man. The song was featured on the soundtrack that he and his brother Barrington were contracted to make for the movie of the same name. The movie was made also in an effort to bring a change to the word, but turned out to be a huge flop in Theaters.

Today’s new mixtape comes from DJ Dollaz, and it promises to be a hot summer. Titled “Hip Hop N RnB Mixx“, this is over an hour worth of some of the hottest R&B and Hip Hop Music out from the likes of Wale, J Cole, Future, Miguel, and many others. Love TraBass TV but always heard a certain song at the end of his recent videos? Well that is Andrew TraBass and Lincoln3Dot’s remix of Asap Rocky’s “F*cking Problems” song with Kendrick Lamar, Drake and 2Chainz. In this song “I love Fat Girls (I Love Fat Bitches)“, they changed the lyrics and deejayed about fat girls. Pretty hilarious song and is worthy of the download. Music video coming soon. NEW VIDEO: @KendrickLamar – BackSeat Freestyle

Well this dropped unexpectedly. Kendrick Lamar made a video for the very popular ‘BackSeat Freestyle” track found on his debut album. Shot between Compton and Paris, France, Kendrick drops very dope lyrics over black and white imagery. Pretty cool video, I like how one of the skits managed to be visualized half way in the video as well. Sherane has a nice booty. NEW VIDEO: @KendrickLamar x @LadyGaga – Kill My Vibe

While there was word of Lady Gaga agreeing to a collaboration on Kendrick Lamar’s “good kid m.A.A.d. city” album, creative differences got into the way and Gaga never made it on the album. Nonetheless Gaga managed to leak her version of track #2 along with a video. Not an official video but from the looks of it this is footage from Gaga’s touring.
