.@X3myst Stays “DEADicated” In New Video!

Recording Artist X3myst is still on the grind, and is moving his way up to being one of the lyricists you should look out for. With his “grimey” style, it’s only a matter of time before X3myst reaches the forefront of Dancehall. His journey continues with the gritty, “DEADicated” visual. Directed by Rael Emmanuel for TwoFold Creative Studios and X3myst, if you’re familiar with his “Smood Criminal” video, then you know X3myst’s videos give you that short film feel that could expand into a feature Film. The video however revolves around a young man who lived the life of crime from the day he sought revenge for his father’s death, to doing drive bys. The single was released in 2018, and was produced by Anju Blaxx for UIM Records on the Venvm Riddim.

Tell ZOSO to fall back on this one, the guns are props. Be on the look out for more from X3myst this year as he continues his mission. Check out the video below, and share with a friend. Show us some love/follow us on Twitter and Instagram at @13thStreetPromo.

.@ShenYeng Links Up With @Tyga On @Rvssian Produced, “Blessed”!

While everyone was going crazy over Shenseea’s Instagram post last week, she has been staying busy with new music and being the best (best, best, best, best…). For those who had headaches over it (or shedding tears lol), the post was a screenshot from her upcoming video with US Rapper Tyga, “Blessed“! With production from Rvssian and the video shot by Arrad in Montego Bay, we’re in for another Shen Yeng summer as this sounds like a track that will be heard everywhere! With word that Shenseea has inked a deal with a Interscope Records/Rich Immigrants, she will be crossing over in a big way. This isn’t Tyga’s first time getting into some Dancehall as he made an attempt on the single, “1 of 1“. This may be the one to do numbers since his return with “Taste” and “Dip“, and redeem his Jamaican side a lil.

Ah Shenseea (Ra ta ta ta ta ta ta)! Check out the video below, and share with a friend. Show us some love/follow us on Twitter and Instagram on @13thStreetPromo.

.@LenoBanton & @TheRoyalBlu Finally Dropped The Visual For “Meanwhile”!

While this track scorched many playlists, melted speakers, and became one of our favourites in 2017, Leno Banton and Royal Blu finally give us the visual for their track, “Meanwhile“! With JRDN MARS handling the visual, the duo take turns hitting you with the lines that you’ve enjoyed over that JLL production. It’s the mixture of fuego and light speed that you can’t get enough of since the song’s release. A bit of a trippy visual here with the addition of performance clips, and MARS did a really great job here as they fit the song perfectly. It is recommended that you have some herb for an enhanced viewing effect. Dem a talk, and dem a pree, but we just want you to catch the premiere viewing below. .@KxngIzem Gets Socially Conscious On “Pity”!

With all the craziness that affect our world on a daily basis, we really need to encourage more positive living and put out good energy out there. Recording Artist Kxng Izem (formerly Dmitri Izem) prays for good times with family and friends on “Pity“. With the single produced by Ten24 Music, Izem shares his observations of violence in his homeland, people studying evil, betrayal amongst friends and family, and folks portraying a clean character but are really terrible people on the inside. The video, which was directed by Vartex Studio and Lucid Production, finds friends getting together for a game of Dominoes, but ends on a tragic note where one was gunned down after a disagreement with another.

This is also Kxng Izem’s first outing since changing his name. When asked why the change, he explained that “Dmitri Izem” spoke towards a suppressed history in which we were once proud black African Kings that had our names replaced. The change to “Kxng Izem” pays tribute to the fallen ancestors and reclaim that black royal heritage.

Calypso Rose Needs Her “Young Boy” In @MachelMontano Assisted Video!

There are some folks in the world who like their love interests to be much older, while others like them (legally) younger! Before her iconic Coachella gig, Caribbean Icon Calypso Rose lets us in on why she wants a younger gentleman in the Machel Montano assisted, “Young Boy“! With the video shot by Fluid Capture and starring Comedian Nikki Crosby, Rose gave her 1992 track new life with the help of the “Monk” as they go back and forth over the young man/old woman relationship topic. She said the young boy keeps her younger, who are we to say she’s wrong? Calypso Rose will be making her historic appearances as the oldest performing Artist and 1st Calypsonian Artist on Coachella later (April 12) at 6:30PM PDT (8:30 PM GMT-5 time), and on April 19.

OLDIES SUNDAY: Born Jamericans – Yardcore (1996)

On Oldies Sunday, we highlight and celebrate those who have made their contributions into pushing Jamaica’s music culture worldwide over the decades, whether they’re natives of the Island or not. Today’s selection comes from the Hip Hop/Reggae/Dancehall duo, Born Jamericans (Edley Shine and Notch) with their single, “Yardcore“! Produced by Rahiem and Notch, this was released in 1996 through the Delicious Vinyl label. On the track, despite being born in the US to Jamaican Immigrants, they both celebrate their Caribbean heritage and share how it has influenced their life and music. With that said, they came crashing in from the “heart of Babylon” with their “Yardcore” slang and style of music to rock the world.

“Yardcore” was the first single off their 2nd and final studio album of the same name which was released in 1997. Since its release it has enjoyed significant airplay, enjoying a top ten entry on the U.S. Rap charts, and entering the U.S. R&B charts in the top 50 slot. The single was also remixed a few times including one from top Jamaican Producer Dave Kelly. While they followed up with more music, the duo parted ways in 1999. Both being solo acts, they went on to release their own type of music as Notch dabbled in Reggaeton, and Edley kept it Hip Hop and Dancehall (and even tried his hand in acting). They got back together as a duo in 2015, and have been performing their classics wherever they can.

Having played a part in bringing the Caribbean influences to mainstream Hip Hop, Born Jamericans will always be remembered for “Yardcore”! Check out the selection below, and share with a friend. Show us some love/follow us on Twitter and Instagram at @13thStreetPromo.
