For over 40 years, he has been moved from child star, to a living legend. He commands stages, saved many events, and deserves to be called “Dancehall’s Greatest Entertainer“. Fittingly, that’s the title of our new Playlist made for Beenie Man!

His mama knows him as Earlan Bartley, but the world knows him as Alkaline! Recently, he released his highlight anticipated sophomore album, “Top Prize“. With a career spanning nearly 30 years, his music still connects with many from all walks of life. On February 17, 2021, the world lost a legend, the great Ewart “U-Roy” Beckford. A man who is the Daddy, the Father, the King, and the Originator of what you know as toasting/deejaying/rapping, he has left behind a great legacy for many others to follow and be inspired by. He may be gone physically, but we know he’s gearing up to nice up every session in the afterlife. Today, we pay tribute to his greatness with the “Sampling U-Roy” Playlist!

The “Sampling U-Roy” Playlist features some of his classics, and some of the tracks that sampled them. With artists like Dennis Brown, Def Jef, IDK, Dawn Penn, and Talib Kweli borrowing from the great Daddy U-Roy, you’re in for an enjoyable and informative listen.
