It’s February, and it’s a month where some of us celebrate love. February 6 is a day that celebrates a Music Icon that’s named Marley, the late Bunny Rugs. Bunny Rugs was the Lead Vocalist of the legendary Third World Band. Today, we recognize him with an Oldies Sunday selection. We go back in time to check out, “Always Around“.

Written by the late Irvin “Carrot” Jarrett, “Always Around” was released through Island Records in 1979. The song featured mostly Bunny Rugs vocals throughout as the song spoke of having that special love around, and every good thing can come from that. The song features smooth production that was handled by the Band, and was one of the songs that was a part of the Band’s transition from Roots Reggae, to more Pop-oriented singles. “Always Around” was featured on Third World’s “The Story’s Been Told” album from 1979. The song never charted, but has been considered one of Third World’s best songs.

Kicking off the new year with music is Producer/Recording Artist Kris-Karz! While he made a return to music releases late last year, he’s ready to take his career to the next level. With a project seeing a possible release later this year, Kris is setting up for a great rollout. Still relatively new to the scene as a Recording Artist, he is leaving great impressions with every song. We hope it doesn’t change with the release of the track, “Reciprocation“.

Turning up the tempo on this one, Kris-Karz gives us some slick lyrics paired with some jammin’ production that Musicians Keshawn Allen and Coombs assisted with (inspired by late Rapper Mac Miller’s “Self Care” album and made at Producer J.L.L.’s house) that is sure to make him stand out this year. Kris isn’t your average Producer, so you’re not gonna expect nothing less as an Artist. With lyrics that find him going through the adventures of love and relationships (with some back seat action going on), listeners will relate to this one, and definitely show it a lot of love. First off, R.I.P. to the LEGENDARY Robbie Shakespeare, 1/2 of the “Riddim Twins” a.k.a. the production duo known as Sly & Robbie. May Robbie’s amazing basslines forever live on! We had plans to release a Playlist paying tribute to the legendary Sly & Robbie next year, but with the sad news that came this week, we had to put something together in the best way we know how. We present to you the “Sampling Sly & Robbie” Playlist!

Sly & Robbie made classics that have spanned generations, and helped to inspire many around the world. Our latest Playlist highlights not only some of the classics, but some of the known tracks that have sampled them. Earlier this year, Producer/Recording Artist Kris Karz released the groovy single, “ENERGY” with Singer Timothy David. Featuring smooth vocals and witty lyrics paired with a dope production, it was Kris’ 3rd single that was leading up to a project that had a possible Summer 2021 release. With life being life and Covid’s still running the show, those plans were postponed. Now with a renewed focus, Kris Karz is back to give the world for content. Today, we get the visual for “ENERGY“!

Directed by Dylan Golden, Kris Karz brings his A-game to your screen! Throughout the “ENERGY” video we can see him making some smooth moves on a beautiful Afro lady (played by Dyna Edyne), giving us some 70s Soul vibes. When he’s not getting into some player vibes, he takes it to the stage by performing with his band that consists of Kris Karz on keys, and Kris Karz on Guitar. Timothy David shows up throughout the video as well to deliver the hook. Kris Karz continues to give us dope visuals to go with his singles, and we know he has a lot more in store. If you haven’t been getting familiar with him, you need to change that now!

Stalk Ashley has been building her career to the level where everything she drops, the fans rush to it like ants to sugar. She has shown that she can take her career to International levels, and still keep it true to her Jamaican roots. While many still anticipate a full project from her, she keeps the fans happy with the release of her EP, “EXcuses, Pt. 1“.

With 6 tracks, Stalk Ashley gives us quality music that we’ve come to know from her. With her sultry vocals and an attitude that keeps you in line, “EXcuses, Pt. 1” is a release that you should add to your list. The EP features production from Krs., Darren Jaxx Jack, KingBNJMN, William Repko, Eugene Tsai, and Dylan Graham, and the beats definitely distract you while Stalk’s lyrics put you in a chokehold. Rapper/Producer BEAM makes an appearance on the EP as the sole guest feature, but he makes his presence felt. This year saw a lot of releases, but fans of Stalk Ashley will definitely keep this EP close as the album is finalized.

It’s All About Energy In Yanah’s “Sagittarius Moon”!

Singer Yanah gets back to the music, and seeks to make a bigger impact. She was away for a bit, but we guarantee you that her captivating vocals are still present, and she has some “Yanah SZN” content ready for you to tap into. Her return comes in the form of the music video for the single, “Sagittarius Moon“.

Directed by Yanah with assistance from Mark Llewellyn, “Sagittarius Moon” is a soulful look into energy, and the role it plays while she seeks to share hers with someone new. Production for the track was done by Janoi Senior a.k.a. SNR Beats. The video finds her connecting with nature (while rocking a crocheted bathing suit), and presenting herself in a beautiful way in her first music video.
