In recognition of French Montana and Nicki Minaj’s hit, “Freaks“, today I feature one of the songs that was sampled in it. Titled “Murder She Wrote“, this was a very popular hit of legendary duo Chaka Demus and Pliers. Released in 1992 and produced by Sly and Robbie on the “Bam Bam” remake riddim, this song was described as a song for the ladies with an “Angel face but a Devil’s heart“. This song spoke about a girl named Maxine who was a user, very promiscuous, and was also a murderer. According to the artists, this was written off an experience but with a few details omitted.

Fresh off his successful performance at Usain Bolt’s Tracks & Records, Wayne Wonder hopped onto the Onstage set to have a chat with Winford Williams. Here he spoke about his success over the years, his “No Letting Go” single from 2003, his experiences as mainstream artist, advice for the young artists, his plans for the future, and his album “My Way“. Good interview, always great to see top artists giving the public giving insights on the mechanics of their careers. It’s never easy but it can be fruitful once done properly. Today’s episode of Onstage featured an Interview with Reggae artist I-Octane. Having a seat with Winford Williams, Octane spoke about the origin of his current hit, “Gal A Gimme Bun“, his resigning with Digicel Jamaica as Reggae Ambassador, working with companies to ensure his brand is a positive one, and leaving a great mark in the music industry for years to come. He also premiered his “Gal A Gimme Bun” video and previewed a new song. Very good interview, his music video will be featured on the blog very soon.
