Today, we give you our final “Oldies Sunday” selection for 2025. As we venture into 2026, we want to wish our readers/viewers all the best for the new year, and let’s make some good things happen. With that said, today’s entry comes from Baba Dread f.k.a. Zimbabwe Dread with the track, “Ladder Of Progress“.

Produced by Roy Cousins and released through Kingdom Records in 1981, it’s all about making good things happen in life in Baba Dread’s “Ladder Of Progress”. With a toasting/Deejaying style that ruled the scene, Baba provided words of motivation for the listener, with messages of striving when times are rough, having faith in trying times, and moving forward with good intentions. “Ladder Of Progress” was featured on the 1981 album, “Earthman Connection” (which was re-released in 2011 through Tamoki-Wambesi-Dove), Baba’s only album. “Ladder Of Progress” was received well with listeners, and over the years gained love in more parts of the world.

While many are more focused on making it to 2026, Notnice calls up a few friends to deliver, “Merry Christmas From Yaad“.

Featuring 4 tracks, Notnice wants to ring in the holidays the yaad way with the “Merry Christmas From Yaad” EP. The effects of Hurricane Melissa are still persistent in the Caribbean, and many are still in recovery mode, but this new project aims to bring some form of relief, and a needed distraction. Notnice brought onboard Jah Vinci, Nordia Mothersille, and D’Yani for the EP, and his latest signee, the A.I. Artist S’riah makes her debut for the holidays. On November 24 2025, the world mourned the loss of one of Reggae’s most legendary Ambassadors, Jimmy Cliff. One of the pioneering Artists of the genre, he took Reggae to places that have never heard of it, and solidified himself as one of Jamaica’s true Rockstars. He scored big in music, and in Film, and has influenced generations. Despite him not being here physically, his musical legacy, name, and family live on. We send our condolences to his family at this time. We pay tribute to the Icon with our latest Playlist, “Sampling Jimmy Cliff“.

While Jimmy Cliff’s catalogue has been off limits in the case of sampling, there were a few Artists who were allowed a chance to, who then managed to treat the music with respect, and paid tribute through their own creations. Featuring the likes of Rebel MC, Cutty Ranks, FatBoy Slim, Afroman, and Kris Kross Amsterdam, you can tune in to some of the sampled works, and the original hits from Dr. Cliff himself.
