The recent Warner Records signee eyes new horizons, and is ready to make a huge mark in the world. With the work being done, it’s time to have a party, a Grim Party that is as Projexx unleashes the “Fully Vol. 1” Mixtape!

Featuring 18 tracks of remixes, freestyles, and original music, Projexx steps out fully loaded to give listeners something to hold them over till the next project. With production from RussBuss, Sheenworks, Silent Addy, DethWrld x 8BallHitz, Reid Waters, Castanheiro Music, Bombocat and more, prepare your speakers for something great. The Mixtape isn’t short on features though as Chi Ching Ching, Aleicia, Baker Steez, Beam, Artikal, and Melekü contribute to the project’s dopeness and give Projexx plenty support. Time to get the party started.

Trini Recording Artist Rayquan868 steps out as one of the many promising acts from the twin Island. With a few releases out, he has proven that he can tackle any beat given to him, and produce songs that will hold the audience. One of his 2020 releases that has caught the attention of many is the Trinibad single, “Badmind“, and today we check out the visual.

Directed by Gabriel Moore and released in part with Playmakers Entertainment, Rayquan868 lets us know that badmind can never stop his progress, and there will be consequences for those practice it against him and his team. Over the Cxdet and BT Records produced “Sicario Riddim“, Rayquan gives us melodic flows, and enough bars to let you know that he means business. Shav-A Takes You To The Moon & Back On “Do It Like Me-Prelude”

Though Shav-A has been on the radar of many over the years thanks to her various releases, she is now set to make a huge impact on Jamaica’s music scene as well as well as making her mark around the world.

Released through G Shav Music, “Do It Like Me” finds Shav-A oozing confidence as she takes you on a musical ride, and by the end you all will agree that no one does it like her. With her soft and sensual vocals, and top production that complements the lyrics, Shav-A will grab your attention, as she turns up the heat and takes you into her private world.

The single is a follow up to the successful summer 2020 video release of her “Island Girl” track, and serves as a prelude to her debut EP, “It’s All About Love” with the first song scheduled for a late 2020 release and will feature the legendary Jamaican saxophonist, Dean Fraser. Produced by Felva, Popeye Caution and Splash Zanotti hit the block on the hunt for the loot! With Popeye kicking off the track with the catchy “Buddu bye bow…“, we get some Trap Dancehall vibes with Splash adding some extra badness. Expect this one to make some noise in the coming weeks. YoungPow Unleashes 90’s Dancehall Vibes With Chino McGregor On “Riddim Ryda Style”

Grammy award winning Producer/Songwriter Sean “YoungPow” Diedrick wants to take you back to a wonderful time in music, the 90’s Dancehall era, with a twist! Having recently announced the “Riddim Ryda” project, he kicked things off with the release of “Who She Like” featuring veteran Dancehall artist Mr. G. Having made some noise, he’s following up with Chino McGregor on the track, “Riddim Ryda Style“!

On “Riddim Ryda Style”, Chino gives listeners his signature vocals, and doesn’t hold back on the deejaying as he treats YoungPow’s Riddim like a heavy bag at the gym. Ready to mash up any session, Chino gives the 90s the proper respect, and YoungPow picked the right sounds to put together something awesome. “The inspiration for the beat came to me while I was experimenting with one of my sample packs, (‘Sounds From Yard’, Vol. 1),” YoungPow explained. “It’s a somewhat throwback vibe with a modern mix.” The “Riddim Ryda” project also features Popcaan, Common Kings, Kabaka Pyramid, Falkon, and more. “Riddim Ryda” is also a follow up to his “Turn It Up Riddim” project, and Answele’s “Jah Is In Control” single, which were released this past summer.

OLDIES SUNDAY: Big Youth – S90 Skank (1974)

It’s Heroes Weekend in Jamaica, and we know many will find a way to have some fun during the Covid 19 Pandemic (Please be safe, and don’t add to the high positive cases). While there is a curfew implemented, that won’t stop the people from taking trips around the Island. Many would be looking forward to crews and gangs revving their choice of Bikes ranging from “Ninja Bikes” to “Yeng Yengs”, and today’s Oldies Sunday is a tribute to that, and honour a legend. Today’s selection comes from Manley Buchanan O.D. a.k.a. the great Big Youth with the track, “S90 Skank“.

Produced by Keith Hudson for his Imbidmts label and released in 1974, the track was inspired by the Honda S90, a popular Motorcycle in Jamaica at the time. The song featured Big Youth performing a series of half singing and toasting throughout the track, and you could hear the revving of a Bike at various parts. When recording, a Bike was brought into the Studio for added realism. The song turned out to be Big Youth’s first hit single, and was even used by Honda for a S90 Commercial. The track was featured on his “Everyday Youth (The Best Of Big Youth)” album in 1980, and “Cool Breeze – Ride Like Lightning: The Best Of Big Youth 1972-1976” album in 2002. Big Youth went on release many hits and projects over the years, and become an influence to generations of Reggae/Dancehall artists. This month (October 2020), he has been awarded the Order Of Distinction by the Government of Jamaica for his various contributions to the culture.
