NEW MUSIC: @TheWizardJA – Toppanaris

BncXMM7CIAEyPzDStepping on the scene is Singer/Producer Natassja Hammond a.k.a. The Wizard with a new single. Titled “Toppanaris” and self produced, Wiz speaks about being the original one around, separating herself from everyone, how she has a commanding presence and should be treated like royalty and will always step out like a champion. I like the production and her delivery on this one. I’ll admit I’m late to her music but I know she’s a part of the team that brought you Kat Dahlia’s “Mash It Up”. Jamaica is a bubbling pot of talent that can go toe to toe with any genre out there. Check out the track below and share your thoughts in the comments section.

NEW MUSIC: @EmperorRanks – Big Time

SRAfter being away from a Jamaican studio in years, Shabba Ranks got back to his roots and released a new single. Titled “Big Time” and produced by JukeBoxx Productions on the “Greatest Creation Riddim“, the veteran Deejay shows us that he has what it takes to still rock the microphone. He also tells us that he’s needed in Dancehall Music and will always “give it to dem” when he’s summoned. Many were delighted to hear Shabba pick up the microphone after hearing him on Rapper A$AP Ferg’sShabba (Remix)” so will this new single mean there’ll be more in store? Check out the track below and share your thoughts in the comments section.

OLDIES SUNDAY: Courtney John – I Go Crazy (2000)

Today’s Oldies Sunday selection comes from Reggae artist formerly known as “Yogie“, Courtney John. Titled “I Go Crazy“, this was a Reggae remake of the 1977 Paul Davis song of the same name. “I Go Crazy” was featured on John’s debut album “Miracles” which was released in 2000. The song spoke about John meeting an old lover who he thought he has fully gotten over, only to end up recapturing feelings for her again. Produced by the artist himself, this delivered a beautiful production and recruited great back up singers. Although his first attempt in the entertainment industry started in 1993, “I Go Crazy” was Courtney John’s breakout single with a great music video to match.

NEW MUSIC: @KonshensSojah – Don Daddy (SuperCat Style)

Konshens__MTVIGGY_001Today’s new music comes from the SubKonshus CEO, Konshens. Titled “Don Daddy (SuperCat Style)” and produced by Shane Brown on the “Greatest Creation Riddim“, Konz pays tribute to Deejay SuperCat and his 20+ year old song, “Don Dada“. Konz borrowed a little of SuperCat’s flow over this production where he spoke about being a champion, his start in the music business, name drops his SubK team, and also shows respect to the foundation deejays like Lady Saw, Josey Wales, Bounty Killa and Shabba Ranks. Great effort here, It would be cool to hear a remix of this with the Don Dada himself. Check out the track below and share your thoughts in the comments section.

Mixtape Movements: @ItsJahmiel – Mission EP

artworks-000080071714-h9pdts-t500x500

Reggae artist Jahmiel is on a mission and today he delivers an EP to show us his progress. Titled “Mission“, this is a six track compilation of some of the artist’s latest work. Featuring production from Notnice Records, Lee Milla Productions, Rokus Records, and Black Spyda Records, Jahmiel shows how broad his range is in subject matter and production. Jahmiel is an artist I have been following for quite some time and I believe he deserves to be on a huge platform and carrying the flag like many acts here. Check out the EP below and share your thoughts in the comments section.

NEW MUSIC: @IAmTheKartel – Tun Back Way

VKWhile many prepare for the day’s activities on Labor Day, some are “laboring” as we speak. Tonight, a new Vybz Kartel single may just be the spark to help out with tonight’s “toil“. Titled “Tun Back Way” and produced by Markus Records on the “Sex Mate Riddim“, we hear Vybz speaking on how he wants his lady to entice him and thrill him with various moves. Just when people thought there was an end, more Kartel songs keep popping up. I’m not mad at that. Check out the track below and share your thoughts in the comments section.
