If you don’t know by now, Complex Ricki is creative AF! With a singing style that has you within its clutches, she can also paint some works of Art, and strike a pose that some models may envy. She has been featured as a Female Artist You Need To Watch, and today, you have no choice but to pay attention as we feature a double dose of EPs from her. With “22 Captive” and “Free Space“, Complex Ricki flexes over various productions, tackles different topics, and gives us some smooth and soothing vocals. She might pull a Medusa on you and have you set in stone with the sound of her voice.
Ricki is a very unique Artist, and that’s the reason why she was added to our list of Female Artists to watch this year. If she isn’t around a few canvases, or perfecting her “drip“, she’s penning some crazy lyrics to fit the sounds that approach her. Recently, as a part of her roll out, she delivered a double dose of music videos namely “Bless You” and “Pesos“.
On “Bless You“, we find Ricki presenting herself as a walking canvas as she dons various outfits, and gets very colourful throughout. With Troy Baker’s production handling her lyrics, you will very blessed upon consuming this presentation.
On “Pesos“, Ricki delves into some Trap Dancehall vibes as she switches up the flows (and languages) over some hard hitting Troy Baker sounds. The video, which was directed by Dennis Brown Media House, finds Ricki counting up the moula and delivering some “bad gyal” vibes, while we get a bit of dancing thanks to Tara Tehrebel and Tashine Hinds of Versatile Ones. Give Ricki the lane, and she’ll be sure to take advantage of it.
In our “2018 Predictions” post, we predicted that there will be more Women making their way onto the Caribbean Music scene. In an Industry that hasn’t always been kind to the Female Artist, we have enjoyed the works from many over the years, but we have also asked for some who can step outside the box and give us music that’ll blow us away! The following Artists have been slowly making their name out there for some time, and aim to be mentioned along with their established peers.

We mentioned the songbird in our 15 Artists to look out for feature last year, and she has been making steady progress since her debut single, “So Shy“. This year has already seen her start off in a good way with “Doe Try Me“, with promises to deliver even more music. She steals the scene with her voice, and you need her in your playlists.
Jane has been on the scene for a while, but made a lot of noise in 2017 thanks to her single, “Too Late“. A member of Zinc Fence Records, she made her debut in 2014 with “Babylon” and has been on the radar of many ever since. Last year saw her music being featured in the Amazon Video series, “SYN”, and this year may be the year she releases a full length project! It’s not too late to get familiar with her.
3. Rhiya Luna
Formerly Shie Musik, she was featured in our 15 Artists to know post as well as she was coming back off of a hiatus. She has lent her voice to various Dancehall singles, and with the new moniker she aims to touch on more genres. With singles like “It Up“, “Bandwagon Selecta“, “Sweetest Love” and her latest “Again“, let her music put some light in your life!
Dropping new music is emerging Recording Artist, Riki Simmonds! Bringing a new flavour to the scene, she’s definitely an Artist to watch out for. Today she makes “waves” with “Waterfalls“! Produced by Troy Baker of Geejam Records, Riki speaks about someone who has captured her attention, and makes her go from having her head in the clouds, to coming down like a Waterfall! It’s like that sometimes (lol). Blending a mix of Dancehall, Soul, R&B, and Afrobeat with her unique lyrics, we believe she will be making a lot more noise in 2018! Has anyone ever made you feel like how Riki is feeling in this song? Let us know! Check out the track below.
