On the Blog, we highlight, promote, and celebrate some of the Caribbean’s best creative talent. We’ve helped many from “Day one“, and we’ve watched their growth over the years to becoming a household name and more. GRAMMY winning Producer SOS Dynamikz is one of those talents we’ve seen build his way up long before this Blog was even created. Today on his birthday (December 12), we highlight him in our new Short Film, “SOS Dynamikz“!

Shot at his home in Manchester (Jamaica), we caught SOS Dynamikz getting into his production zone while we give you tidbits of information on him. He even shared the creative process behind Koffee’s “Blazin” featuring Jane Macgizmo that was featured on Koffee’s GRAMMY winning “Rapture” EP. If you’re new to SOS Dynamikz, this is a great opportunity to know about him. If you’re a fan, we give you an inside look on the method to SOS’ madness (lol).

Jamaica Jah 9 Note To Self Reggae Music Poetry 13thStreetPromo 13thStreetPromotions Caribbean Short Film Documentary

.@Jah9 Gives Us Strong Words & Beautiful Music In “Note To Self” Short Film

Posted on by swadedavillain

When Jah 9 speaks, many will listen. With a career that has been well-regarded and respected, she continues to elevate to higher heights. With album #3, “Note To Self” seeing a release date, she gets in her creative bag to give us the “Note To Self” Short Film.

Directed by Fernando F. Hevia and Samo Kush, Jah 9 dives into the theme of self-awareness through her combination of Music and Art into a beautiful experience that runs for 13 minutes. She shares that, “Getting to know one’s self can seem like an obscure pursuit, but the study is indeed rewarding. Get intimate with your boundaries and the ways in which your essence is contained. In many ways, surviving can be like a war against a vast unknown world, it will prove invaluable having an intimate understanding of yourself and the materials, talents, flaws and gifts you are given. A proper inventory is key. The Note To Self documentary gives context to the album which I do my best to share myself in this state of consistent inventory management,” Jah9 states. “These themes and transitions are visited on the songs throughout the album, and then revisited in narrative form through this documentary. Together they present a summary of my latest effort, a self thesis.”

While we all take in this wonderful showcase, Jah 9’s “Note To Self” album touches the Globe and your ears on March 13. Check out the video below, and share with a friend. Show us some love/follow us on Twitter and Instagram at @13thStreetPromo.

Filmmaker @Taqueth Shares The Story Of Jamaican Skater, “EDGE”!

Posted on by swadedavillain

The Skating culture continues to grow in Jamaica, but we need to set up some greater facilities to further nurture it. Recently, Filmmaker Tamara Smith a.k.a. “Taqueth” reached out to Skater James Lawrence a.k.a. “EDGE” to tell his story in a new Short Film! Hailing from Edgecombe Avenue in St. Ann, “EDGE” shares his journey from skating in the gully with visions of pursuing his dream, to getting his first pair of skates, and even a bumpy journey home on skates. While Taqueth captured scenes with EDGE doing tricks, we even hear him deejaying a bit in the end.

EDGE has been moving on up to being a Professional Skater “living life on the edge“, and has even performed at the Jamaican Independence Grand Gala, and represented as a qualifier at the World Skating Championships. He has been holding his own as a Recording Artist (formerly going by the stage name “Edgecombe”) as well having performed at New Wave and a few events at the University of the West Indies (UWI).

It’s dope when you can find the perfect Producer for your tracks. Finding one to score your Film, is something special. Recently Rapper/Chef Dylan Golden released his Short Film, “Half Dead“, which takes you through the journey of a young man of color who is exasperated with the onslaughts of current social injustices we are facing in America and around the world. Filmed in Brooklyn, scoring for this Film was done Dylan (who also directed it), and Jamaican Producer Kris Karz! While the two are no strangers to collaborating with each other, both have combined their powers to spread the messages injected throughout this piece. The Film was released in conjunction with the Rapper’s new album, “The Revolution Of The Heart“.

NEW VIDEO: @TheCham x @ShortFilmzJA x YGF Visuals – Feel Good (Short Film)

Posted on by swadedavillain

TCWhen the liquor gets to you there’s no telling what can happen. Tonight features a short film based off Dancehall artist Cham’s “Feel Good” single. Directed by Short Filmz Jamaica and YGF Visuals, the video starts off with two friends leaving a party and as they go their separate ways, one has an urge to end the night with a young lady. The rest of the video shows you what the liquor can do to your mind and this guy had a handful. Great video here that’s a bit of the comedic side and J. Wray & Nephew’s White Rum made a cameo appearance. I know many can agree how their mind can play tricks on them after having a wild night. What do you think? Check out the video below and share your thoughts in the comments section.
