That sweet Reggae music continues to seep through some of your favourite shows, and it won’t stop anytime soon. Recently, the 3rd season of the FOX TV show “9-1-1” premiered, and fans of the show were overjoyed. With stars like Angela Bassett and Jennifer Love Hewitt, the series follows the lives of Los Angeles first responders: Police Officers, Paramedics, Firefighters, and Dispatchers. On the premiere episode, viewers got a double dose of Reggae as Jamaican Band Toots & The Maytals and UK Band The English Beat’s music were featured.

Toots and The Maytals were the first to bat as their classic track, “54-46 Was My Number” was featured in a scene, then The English Beat’s “Doors Of Your Heart” followed soon after in another. “54-46” was released in 1968 and 1969, and produced by Leslie Kong. It has been sampled by Rapper Foxy Brown, Major Lazer, and Christiana Aguilera. “Doors Of Your Heart” was released in 1981, and was featured on the Band’s Sophomore album, “Wha’ppen?“.

Jamaican Producer Izy Beats is on a roll. Having lent his sound to Artists like Tarrus Riley, Koffee, Popeye Caution, and David Lyn, he has been enjoying quite the buzz in the past few months as a result of that. Recently, he along with UK Producer Cadenza, teamed up with Pop Artist Jorja Smith and Afrobeats Artist Burna Boy for the hit, “Be Honest“. While it’s enjoying its run on various music charts, Izy Beats got in front of the camera to give viewers his beat breakdown. Presented by Universal Music Publishing Group, Izy gave us the BTS look at the many elements that make that sweet production.

Five Steez continues his grind, and is expanding his global reach. Recently, he teamed up with French Producer J-Zen to give listeners the “Pantone” project! Featuring 4 tracks, Five Steez tackles various topics and beats, and if you feel you can add a few bars to the tracks, the Instrumentals are added to the project for you to vibe to.

Though Five Steez favours the older Rap styles from the 90’s, you won’t find him competing with Trap Rappers or Mumble Rappers anytime soon. That’s all good however, as he aims to give listeners something to enjoy and not conform to what’s popping out there. R.I.P. France Nooks.

They have been touring together this year, but Daniel Caesar and Koffee finally made a song together! While “Cyanide” has been making its rounds since its release, Koffee now adds her flair to the remix! Produced by Matthew Burnett and Jordan Evans, it’s the Jamaica/Canada link up that you need! With Kardinal Offishall and River Tiber’s original contribution intact, the whole track feels like a chill Sunday afternoon after having that good ole Jamaican dinner that consists of Rice and Peas, Brown Stew Chicken, and a glass of fresh fruit juice.

Daniel Caesar continues his rounds with material from his latest project, “Case Study 01“, and shows off his Jamaican influences in everything he does. Koffee on the other hand, continues her amazing run by performing at various events, and giving people that good music. We look forward to more collabs from them. .@MrJKinggz Releases His “No Co-sign” EP!

Having been staying busy this year with putting out new music and building on his brand, Recording Artist JKinggz finally fed the streets with his recently announced project, the “No Co-sign” EP!

Featuring 7 tracks, JKinggz wore many hats on this project as he co-produced the tracks with Hirata and Yung Tago, co-directed the music videos planned for the project, and released it through his JKM Ent. label. He started promotion for the project with “Hunger In Me” and “Back Up 40K” earlier this year, and looks to gain more listeners with the other 5 tracks featured. While his 2018 “30 Days” project highlighted the trials he was facing, “No Co-sign” finds JKinggz on a journey to finding himself, and making progress moving forward.

If you’re from the Caribbean, raise those flags up and rep your Island! If you’re born to Immigrant parents, raise those flags as well! Celebrating their Caribbean heritage today are Pro Era Rappers CJ Fly and Joey Bada$$ on “Rudebwoy“!

With the video directed by David Janoff, it was shot in Flatbush, Brooklyn and at the infamous Miss Lilly’s West Indian Restaurant. With flags waving, and Caribbean vibes flowing throughout the video, CJ Fly and Joey Bada$$ tackle the Statik Selektah production to show off their “Rudebwoy” styles, and show love to Islands that influenced their lives so much (CJ shares a Bajan/Jamaican background, while Joey shares a St. Lucian/Jamaican background).

While CJ Fly has been busy recording for himself and his BEASTCOAST crew, he’s also looking to release a full length “Rudebwoy” project soon. Joey Bada$$ on the other hand has been finding himself in campaigns for Paco Rabanne, and is currently working on new music. Check out the video below, and share with a friend.
