It took a lot of work for UK based Recording Artist Alicaì Harley to get here. With a fire burning in her to make it, she “tek it to dem” over the years with good music. Having made her name cover various areas, she looks to make even more official moves with the release of her debut project, “The Red Room Intro: Yard Gyal Inna Britain EP“!

With 10 tracks loaded, Alicaì Harley comes through like the “God-blessed pickney” that she is, and deliver a world of styles over some heavy production. With “Bad Gyal” anthems, fun songs, relationship songs, Female Empowerment music, and motivational music, Alicaì makes her voice be heard on a higher level, and lets the world know that this Jamaican gem is here to stay, and make a shift in music. With guest features from Stefflon Don, Moelogo, Nadia Rose, Kojo Funds, and Tony Matterhorn, Alicaì ensures that she is well supported on her debut project. She also blends Dancehall, Pop, Hip Hop, and R&B sounds thanks to production from Beat Demons, Diztortion, AntiWave, “Clevie” Browne of the legendary Steely & Clevie, Seanizzle, Jah SnowCone, and others. Life is filled with many challenges, but it takes great determination and faith to move forward from them. 2020 has been a challenge for many mentally, but we take it a day at a time. Recording Artist Sekani BRGHTN reflects on his journey, and offers some positive words on his new single, “Do Well (Life)“.

Produced by and featuring Khaje, Sekani BRGHTN looks back at some of the past moments in his life like his migration to the US from Jamaica, dealing with the new life as an immigrant, trying to protect his mental health during challenging times, family issues and more. Despite all his experiences, he understands that there are others who are going through similar situations, and offers some encouragement.

When we asked about the creative process behind the track, he shared, “The idea for the song struck me as I was riding the Train thinking I never really delved into my life as an artist/person, so I did just that thinking of my journey from leaving Jamaica to where I am now knowing there has been similar people in my circumstances and wanted them to know they are not alone in the struggle.” Having made some developments in his creativity within the past couple years, Sekani looks to tackle the new decade with great music, and make his brand grow exponentially worldwide.

Rhiya Luna Shows She’s Better On “Indefinite”

Rhiya Luna continues to make good music, and keep her name buzzing around the world. She didn’t allow Covid 19 to stop her work ethic in 2020 as she released a few singles, but 2021 will find her going as hard as ever. She starts it off in a good way with the new single, “Indefinite“.

Produced by VoxGad Music and released through Nuh Response Production, Rhiya Luna looks to help a guy out of his current situation. While he has his lady, Rhiya did some observing and realized that his lady has been disloyal to him. She hits him with the truth, and at the same time is convincing him to make the move with her as she’s the better woman for him. Rhiya gets a lil sneaky on this one, and she still delivers greatly on the track over VoxGad’s smooth production. Rhiya has faced some difficulties as an US based artist during the pandemic, but her creativity has not slowed down once. Get ready for more from her.

Today we salute one of Dancehall’s greatest Deejays. Some know him as Desmond Ballentine and Brother Desmond, but most know him as the “Original Front Teet, Gold Teet, Gun Pon Teet Don Gorgon” NinjaMan! The Deejay that is full of lyrics, and is not the one to step to in a clash! Today he celebrates his 55th birthday (others say he was born on January 20 🤷🏽‍♂️), and though he’s currently incarcerated, he still has an influence on many artists, and still holds the role as a music Icon. Today we honour his greatness with our latest Playlist titled, “Ninja Mi Ninja“!

With 45 tracks (on the Spotify version) loaded, get to know the Original Don as he has given the world great music over the years. Will The Wolf & Xodrew Team Up On “I’m Thinking You Should”

Trinibagonian Creative Will The Wolf continues his impressive run of releases in 2021. The rising artist continues to show his range with various topics covered, and amazes viewers with the accompanying visuals he and team put together. Today, we get to check his latest video for the single, “I’m Thinking You Should“.

Will The Wolf teams up with Recording Artist Xodrew here as they deliver a track that is hitting hard thanks in part to the production by Tano. Will drops lyrics that many can relate to, and with Xodrew’s contribution, the vibe is still the same here. Will has a commendable streak of tracks out, and only time will tell how his official project will sound. The video which in collaboration with Josiah Persad Films and Jonanthon Mora, finds Will rocking a skull face tattoo while looking dapper in between him going hard (and getting hit hard) in the Boxing ring, while Xodrew looks like he was transported to the 1940s as he finds himself chilling with some beautiful women throughout the video. One thing for sure, Will The Wolf sure knows how to pick a great team to put everything together.

Today (January 17), we celebrate the birthday of UK Lover’s Rock legend, Janet Kay on Oldies Sunday! Today we look back at her hit single, “Silly Games“.

Produced by Dennis Bovell and released through Arawak Records in 1977, Janet Kay sings about a man she has a lot of interest in. While she believes he shares the same feelings for her, but they both fail to approach each other and make something happen. It’s a mix of infatuation, What Ifs, and frustration, and Janet doesn’t want to keep playing this game of hide and seek when they’re around each other. The single was released in Europe and peaked at #2 on the UK Singles Chart. It later became one of the tracks that became an anthem during the rise of the UK Lover’s Rock movement in the 1970s, put Janet in the Guinness Book Of World Records as the first British Black Female to score a UK Reggae hit, and the single was the first Lover’s Rock track to appear on the BBC flagship music series, “Top Of The Pops“. It’s forever a classic with Janet’s high notes displayed throughout, and was inspired by the Queen of Jazz Ella Fitzgerald’s Memorex Commercial. The single was featured in the Film, “Lovers Rock“, a part of the Steve McQueen “Small Axe” Film series.
