If you’re proud to be a Jamaican, wave yuh flag fi dis one! We told you that Recording Artist Sekani is one of the Artists you should keep on your radar last month, and today’s entry is more reason to do so. In celebration of Jamaica’s 56th year of Independence, Sekani released, “876“. With production by Monte Booker, Sekani utilizes a different flow to speak on leaving Jamaica for the US, and share experiences in his life’s journey. Sometimes all we have is faith, and we have to be strong in order to move forward. Sekani is currently working on more music including the follow up to his amazing “Fragmented” project. The “1One King” of Mobay started making a lot of noise late last year, and is no surprise to the lineup this year. With a buzz that quickly spread like wildfire thanks to tracks like “Tuff“, “Things Go Change“, “Feel Like This (Big Toe)“, and “Learn“, he quickly rose up the ranks with some of the best from the west. Don’t believe me? Watch his debut appearance at Reggae Sumfest 2018 below.
Today we present to you the sounds of the Artist named Sekani. Based in New York, he took his Jamaican sound and influences to what many know as the birthplace of Hip Hop, and created his own fire. With that in mind, he recently released his latest project, “Fragmented“. Featuring 13 tracks, he shares his stories about his experiences and journey from Jamaica to the US, and drops some consciousness throughout. He aims to grab more ears thanks to his unique blend of Hip Hop, Dancehall, and Jazz sounds with assistance from Warren Xclnce, DA, 4Real, Canis Major, and more. Joining him on his musical journey are the likes of Roe Summerz, Royal Blu, and Kapital Stone. For those who need to give the trendy things a break, “Fragmented” is a project to pick up and put in rotation. A wonderful listening experience here.
