Something new courtesy of Ras-I, Almando Douglas and Zosia McGregor. Reviving the 1978 classic, “Satisfy My Soul” by Bob Marley, the stage is set for an acoustic performance from the three. With a mellow vibe and soulful delivery from Ras-I, it’s no surprise when there are comparisons to the original “Gong“. With Zosia’s sweet vocals and Douglas’ Guitar performance adding to the track, this calls for lighters flicking and hits from the chalice! Did this satisfy your soul? Recently, the Estate of the late Peter Tosh released a petition in efforts to have the Jamaican Tourist Board and the Government of Jamaica register The Peter Tosh Memorial Garden a National Historic Landmark. The Museum, located in Belmont, Westmoreland, was erected to preserve the life and legacy of the late Musician and original member of The Wailers. The Estate believes that recognizing the Museum as a Historic Landmark will protect it for generations as Tosh was an advocate for the legalization of Marijuana, fought for Equal Rights, and further expanded Jamaica’s Music and Culture.
Peter Tosh was born in Grange Hill, Westmoreland in 1944 and was known as a Musician, Reggae Artist, and Activist. He was a core member of The Wailers along with the late Bob Marley and Bunny Wailer where he received much success before embarking a solo career. He has collaborated with the likes of Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones and recorded many great songs including “Stepping Razor“, “Legalize It“, “Johnny B Goode“, and penned songs such as “Get Up, Stand Up” and “400 Years” for The Wailers. Peter Tosh died on September 11, 1987 as a result of a home invasion. He was posthumously awarded the Order Of Merit in October 2012.
First they started out as the youth of the Dancehall/Reggae culture, now they’re parents with growing kids. It isn’t unusual for the child of an Entertainer to follow in their parent’s footsteps one way or the other as at times they bring a modern take on their parent’s creations, or create their own lane. Some of the most famous off springs include Stephen, Ziggy, and Damian “Junior Gong” Marley (Sons of Bob Marley), Chino and Di Genius (Sons of Freddie McGregor), Junior Tucker (Son of Jimmy Tucker), Morgan Heritage (Children of Denroy Morgan), Tarrus Riley (Son of Jimmy Riley), Queen Ifrica (Daughter of Derrick Morgan), Protoje (Son of Lorna Bennett), Chronixx (Son of Chronicle) and many more. In part 2 of a few part series, I feature more of the new set of kids on the scene whose parents have covered much ground in their respective careers.

With some news that has hit the wrong places, Fabian The Truth (Fabian Marley) seeks to bounce back and press on. Here on Onstage he spoke about his recent failed DNA test, his thoughts on not being an offspring of the Marley clan, sticking to the “Marley” name, how the controversial situation has affected his mother, working on new music, and more. Though the controversy has died down, it’s good that Fabian is still pursuing a musical career, and I wish him the best. Check out the Interview below and share your thoughts in the comments section.
Recently, Rapper J Cole visited Jamaica to shoot a music video, and of course enjoy the Island. Little did some of us know that he was also a part of a short film done by BBGun Films and Swiss Luxury brand, Bally. Directed by Maxim Bohichik, we see scenes where Cole visited the Bob Marley Museum, hanging out at Strawberry Hill, and hiking in the Blue Mountains. Featuring some new Bally gear, we also hear J Cole’s “Note To Self” and “Love Yourz“. Pretty dope video, and even better that it was shot here.
