When the music hits you, you feel no pain, right? Reggae Music continues to win more hearts over the past few decades. With its many sub genres, fans are treated to all sorts of talent and we hear many songs that can stand the test of time. With Jamaican acts like Protoje, Morgan Heritage, Tarrus Riley, and many more touring the world and sharing our art, we can’t help but demand its sibling Dancehall to step up its game. Is Dancehall Dying? (13th Street Rants Ep. 2)

You frowned or scratched your head when you saw the title. It’s ok (lol). With Dancehall Music seeing a lot of gimmicks, beef, drama (most of them unnecessary) over the years, it hasn’t really been seeing favourable returns. Instead, we have outsiders enjoying our musical styles with most not paying homage, or even helping out some of the talent here. While they can’t shoulder majority of the blame, many Artists, Producers, DJs and Industry folk are the culprits as they failed to innovate, hold back many promising opportunities, and failed to give the music that needed “push”.

Today, we speak on a few things that turn us (and many others) off about this genre that has the potential to do even more, but is being held back. Respect to all the Artists and DJs who are trying in the meantime. We love Dancehall, but it has a tendency to be a little stubborn in thinking. Check out our rant below. Happy 4/20! If you’re unfamiliar with the 20th of April, then you definitely need to be outside more (haha). Every year Stoners celebrate the day of consuming enormous amounts of Marijuana. Coined in 1971 by “The Waldos” during their attempt to locate an abandoned Cannabis crop, the day is celebrated worldwide, and everyone is invited! Enjoy Your Easter Weekend With @DemoXD’s “WullaVybz”!

One thing with Jamaicans, everything we touch turns to gold! While you all are enjoying the Easter Weekend (If you’re at work, I’m sorry 😦 ), I present to you a lil theme music courtesy of Producer/Recording Artist DXMVRC. Titled “WullaVybz“, the Production encourages you to just “Gwaan WullaYybz (Hol’ A Vibes/Get Lit/Have Fun)”. It’s amazing what can come from chilling on the beach (He revealed that he made this while dipping in Jamaican waters). For those new to DXMVRC, the former Glenmuirite has been producing for a couple years and has released a couple EPs along the way. He has also lent his voice as a part of a couple Choirs in Jamaica. @MaticulusAuburn Has It “All For You” On New Single!

It’s been a while since Recording Artist Maticulus Auburn gave you some fire. Today, he delivers that on “All For You“. Produced by Roe Summerz, Maticulus dedicates his love for his lady as she has been there for him in every way, how she has changed his life for the better, and aims to be at her every beck and call. The song gives off a nice retro feel especially with Maticulus’ delivery, and Roe’s production matches it perfectly. I can picture a 90’s Reggae styled video for this (I have a couple concepts here). Look out for a new project from Mr. Auburn later this year. Check out the track below.

Featuring Production from Mck Supreme, Yanah gives you “more tune fi yuh head top” as she speaks on how she feels when her love interest is around. This song relates to many when it comes to having a crush as they want to get closer, but hesitate on making the move.
