@LinkyFirst3: The Jamaican Soca Artist To Watch!
Carnival season is in full swing here in Jamaica, and the Socaphiles will be wukking up and wining all day and night. One particular song will be given multiple spins, but what many will not know, is that it was done by one of their own…

Yes you heard me right, we have a full fledged Jamaican Soca Artist! While we’ve had Dancehall/Soca/Calypso collaborations over the years by the likes of Beenie Man, Konshens, Spice, and of course you all know of the late Legend Byron Lee and his Dragonaires, and the timeless Fab 5 Band, this Artist has taken his talents and determination and became the first to make it to the International Soca Monarch finals! His name is…Linky First!
Born Jason Henriques, Linky First has been blowing up the airwaves in Trinidad & Tobago and the rest of the Caribbean with his hit single, “Rock & Come In” on the Ruffin produced “Liming Riddim” since its release last year. He has since followed up with “Control It”, “X6”, “Doctor”, and “Naked Pon The Road”.

REVIEW: @Protoje’s “For The Culture” Event + Highlights
The Hope Gardens Shell Bandstand served as the perfect backdrop to showcase some of Reggae’s young royals to an eager audience of Locals and Tourists all with one thing in common…a love for the Culture. I personally gave up on Music in Jamaica until I came across these new school of Reggae Royals who through their socially conscious offerings, give honour to the many men and women who preceded them in the genre…

The gates opened at 7:30 Pm and the DJ for the night Yaadcore kept the early patrons entertained on the turntables, and DJ Jimmy Q of NewsTalk 93 FM handled hosting duties. By 9 Pm, the venue was almost full and the show kicked off with the opening act Sevana. Featuring cuts off her Sevana EP and even debuting a new song and a remix to Protoje’s “Love Gone Cold” (she was featured on the original), she had the audience mesmerized as she belted out tune after tune. I still refused to believe she did all that on a sore throat (Editor’s Note: She’s my Hero!!). By the time ZJ Sparks gave Protoje & The Indiggnation the greatest introduction ever, the venue was packed with patrons who were eager to sing and dance along with them.

@RudeJerms Brings The Crew Out In New Visual For “Why Me”
The ongoing relationship with Dancehall Music and the Trap Music sub genre of Hip Hop seems to be a promising one. With influences from acts like Migos, Travis Scott, and Lil Uzi Vert to name a few, expect many established and upcoming acts to expand their creativity. Recently we featured a Mix from Jamaican Rapper Jermani and DJ Mac, and today we feature a visual from the single, “Why Me“. Shot and directed by Deth (a.k.a. “ShotByDeth“), Jerms fires off bars while his crew holds it down in the night. The Lo Flame production gives off an eerie sound fitting the video’s dark setting and makes you pay attention while Jerms tells you what his RUDE life is like. Why pree my G? We just want to vibe on the Island wid a bad ting! Watch the video below and share your thoughts in the comments section.
.@KCharlzMusic Returns To Shake Up New “Kngly Live” Session
A new installment of “Kngly Live” is finally here featuring a familiar face, Recording Artist K Charlz. This is our first tango with the Artist this season and he does not fail to deliver his sound reverberating acoustic melody. Unlike last time, we find ourselves outside the familiar space that is Kngly Studios, and Producer Kris Karz is nowhere in sight! Taking on a more natural atmosphere, K Charlz invites us to shake off some of those purely bad vibes by chanting this fully acoustic cover of the Bob Marley track, “Crisis“. Trevor Hansen provides the music and puts our minds at ease while K Charlz delivers the lyrics! Stay up to date with “Kngly Live” by visiting KnglyStudios.com! Feel free to share your thoughts after checking out the video below.
