If you’re a listener of Dancehall Music, then you’ve heard the name “Shabba Ranks” before. One of the greatest Dancehall Artists that ever stepped on stage, we’ve called him “The Grammy Kid“, “Emperor Ranks“, and “Big Dutty Stinking Shabba” to name a few. As child he was one of the few Deejays I’ve looked up to, when he dropped music videos and stage performances I was glued to the TV screen despite my family complaining of how “slack” his music was. Today, on Oldies Sunday I present to you a few of his songs, and the singles that have sampled/paid tribute to him. What are your favourite Shabba Ranks singles? Let us know in the comments section. Let’s go!

One of the most important features of an Artist is the live performance. Tonight, Recording Artist A-Game along with Vern Hill and Elly B present a performance named “ElectroLive“. Directed by Nickii Kane and Lauren Watkis, A-Game performed 4 of his tracks with a fusion of live instruments played over live samples. If you’ve never heard A-Game perform live, this is a great opportunity to get started. A-Game also hinted that he’s working on his debut album for 2016 and will be a part of Chronixx’s “Capture Land Tour“. Stunt Gang season is in effect! With the follow up to his “It Is What It Is” project on the way, Safaree gave fans new music and visuals to hold them. This video, titled “Bust It“, with help from Jay Parpworth, pays tribute to not only the legendary Shabba Ranks’ “Ting A Ling” with the sample, but has SB replacing Shabba as the performer in the 23 year old Music Video. The video reminds me of when we were kids and we saw our favourite entertainer in a Music Video and we visualized ourselves in that act’s place. SB’s “It Is What It Is 2” hits the Internet on Dec. 1 but for now you check out the video below and share your thoughts in the comments section.
