In celebration of Protoje’s birthday, he teamed up with Yaadcore to release his “Music From My Heart” mixtape. Featuring 27 tracks which are a combination of music from his “8 Year Affair” along with exclusive tracks, this promises to be a great fix for the Protoje fan and a great start for the new listener. Features on this mixtape include Chronixx, Jah9, Kabaka Pyramid, and the legendary Sizzla. Today also marks the beginning of their summer tour in the United States and Europe so if you’re in those areas get yourself informed on where you can see him perform. Mixtape Movements: @LornavBennett – This Is Lorna (Mixed By @IamYaadcore)

In celebration of Reggae singer (and Protoje’s mom) Lorna Bennett’s birthday, she released the “mixtape” version of her debut album. Titled “This Is Lorna” and mixed by Rory Yaadcore, this album included her single “Breakfast In Bed” which made her the first female artist to top the Jamaica singles chart for five consecutive weeks. For many who are familiar with her work can reminisce on her hits and new listeners can be educated (and see who Protoje got his talent from). Wonderful listen from a great artist. Today’s new music comes from Jah 9 and Protoje. Titled “Legitimate” and produced by Rory Stone Love, we hear the two Reggae artists dropping conscious lyrics about living life righteously, love, and being positive over a soothing production. This is track 11 off Jah 9’s “New Name” album which has been receiving rave reviews all around. Great song to meditate to. “New Name” is still on iTunes so get it today. NEW VIDEO: @Protoje – I & I

Off the newly released “8 Year Affair” album Reggae singer Protoje released his music video for “I & I“. Directed by I & I & I (i’m guessing Protoje directed this), we see him and a few friends walking the streets and spreading messages and pamphlets out to people in efforts to help them learn about Marcus Garvey, Walter Rodney and Haile Selassie I. This video features cameos from Jah 9, Kabaka Pyramid, Chronixx and many others. As described by Protoje this was more than a video shoot, it was also a march that done in collaboration with author Dutty Bookman. Nice video, very clean quality and the song and idea were good ones. Check out the video below and share your thoughts in the comments section.
