NEW MUSIC: @ItsToian – Love It

scan0053ye2r

While she gave you “Rude Boys“, Toian was getting the 2nd single ready for your ears and now here it is. Titled “Love It” and produced by Class One Music, Toian continues where she left off with “Rude Boys” and picks up the pace here. She shows love to the Marverley Rude Boys and says she wants to be “More than your likkle browning“. Loving this track as it gives off a retro vibe and with the previous efforts getting good reception, “Retrospect” will definitely be in heavy rotation when it drops on March 17. Check out the track below and share your thoughts in the comments section.

OLDIES SUNDAY: @NoiseyMusic Presents: Toots Hibbert And The Congos – Jamdown (1981)

Today’s Oldies Sunday feature comes from Noisey Music’s “Found Tapes” series. What is considered the “Holy Grail” of Reggae films is “JamDown” that features Reggae artist Toots Hibbert and cult Reggae group The Congos. Released in 1981 and directed by Emmanuel Brown and Theiry Deknut, this featured rare early footage of Toots, and The Congos, who were at the height of their fame, performing songs from their respective catalogs. The Congos are a Reggae group that was formed in the early 1970s and the members included “Ashanti” Roy Johnson, Cedric Myton, and Watty Burnett. Their most famous contribution to Reggae was their classic “Heart of the Congos” which was produced by Lee “Scratch” PerryToots Hibbert is a Reggae Singer who started his career with his group The Maytals in the 1960s. NEW VIDEO: @OnstageTV Interviews @Alpha_Rowen

AlphaR

Cleaning up the airwaves and delivering more positive music is Alpha Rowen’s mission and on Onstage he speaks on it and more. Here he spoke on the mediocrity in Jamaican music, lack of support for positive music, his career in Jamaica and in the UK, challenging artists to do better, his single “Man Feelings” and more. Interesting interview here, Alpha Rowen has made some strong statements and I believe there will be a gradual shift in the music scene very soon and he can greatly benefit. NEW MUSIC: @DavianahMusic – Music Madness

Davianah

Aiming to break out of the monotony today is singer Davianah with her latest single. Titled “Music Madness” and produced by Mark “Genaral” Thompson for Thompson House Music, Davianah gets at artists who fail to bring more positive subject matter to their audience and break out of the continuous stream of sexually charged lyrics being played on the airwaves. She also warns that the youths are listening to them and they are not setting a great example for them to follow. Davianah delivers on this one as this is a song you should keenly listen to. While it is true many of us listen and enjoy the sexually charged lyrics, at times we must make room for more positive lyrics and guide the youth along the way. Don’t turn the music to madness. Check out the track below and share your thoughts in the comments section.

Errol Dunkley "Black Cinderella" for 13thStreetPromotions.com

OLDIES SUNDAY: Errol Dunkley – Black Cinderella (1972)

Today’s Oldies Sunday selection comes from Reggae Musician, Errol Dunkley. Titled “Black Cinderella“, this was produced by Jimmy Rodway for Fe Me Time Records in 1972. Errol considered it a tribute to hard working black women, but it sounded more like a love song than the aforementioned idea. The creation for this came about when Jimmy introduced Errol to one of his poems of the same name. After some adjustments, Errol recorded the single and it immediately became a hit in a time of Black Empowerment.
