It’s that time of year again where we roll out your favourite holiday songs, it’s Christmas time on “Oldies Sunday“! For today’s selection, we connect with someone who we consider one of those Vocalists who hasn’t gotten enough love from Jamaica. He has made his name for years, and is considered a legend. Today, we check out Kashief Lindo, and his single, “Rockin Christmas“.

Produced by his legendary father Willie Lindo and released through Heavy Beat Records in 1994, Kashief Lindo gave us a modern Christmas song that kept everyone dancing. Armed with great vocals and a quality Reggae production, Kashief did no wrong when he made this one. The track was featured on his 1994 album, “Kashief Lindo Sings Christmas“, which featured covers, and a few original songs. Kashief Lindo was child star who had a respectable run in the 90s and early 2000s, and still active as a Recording Artist today. Earlier this year, Producer/Recording Artist Kris Karz released the groovy single, “ENERGY” with Singer Timothy David. Featuring smooth vocals and witty lyrics paired with a dope production, it was Kris’ 3rd single that was leading up to a project that had a possible Summer 2021 release. With life being life and Covid’s still running the show, those plans were postponed. Now with a renewed focus, Kris Karz is back to give the world for content. Today, we get the visual for “ENERGY“!

Directed by Dylan Golden, Kris Karz brings his A-game to your screen! Throughout the “ENERGY” video we can see him making some smooth moves on a beautiful Afro lady (played by Dyna Edyne), giving us some 70s Soul vibes. When he’s not getting into some player vibes, he takes it to the stage by performing with his band that consists of Kris Karz on keys, and Kris Karz on Guitar. Timothy David shows up throughout the video as well to deliver the hook. Kris Karz continues to give us dope visuals to go with his singles, and we know he has a lot more in store. If you haven’t been getting familiar with him, you need to change that now!

Stalk Ashley has been building her career to the level where everything she drops, the fans rush to it like ants to sugar. She has shown that she can take her career to International levels, and still keep it true to her Jamaican roots. While many still anticipate a full project from her, she keeps the fans happy with the release of her EP, “EXcuses, Pt. 1“.

With 6 tracks, Stalk Ashley gives us quality music that we’ve come to know from her. With her sultry vocals and an attitude that keeps you in line, “EXcuses, Pt. 1” is a release that you should add to your list. The EP features production from Krs., Darren Jaxx Jack, KingBNJMN, William Repko, Eugene Tsai, and Dylan Graham, and the beats definitely distract you while Stalk’s lyrics put you in a chokehold. Rapper/Producer BEAM makes an appearance on the EP as the sole guest feature, but he makes his presence felt. This year saw a lot of releases, but fans of Stalk Ashley will definitely keep this EP close as the album is finalized.

Rhiya Luna Deals With Betrayal On “Believed You”

Rhiya Luna is back with more music, and we know you’re gonna enjoy it all. Last month, she announced that she will be releasing a new project in celebration of her birthday. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the project was not ready in time. Nothing to be sad about though as Rhiya still has more music in the stash for your listening pleasure. An EP is also on the way so gear up for that. To hold fans over, she revealed a new single called, “Believed You“.

Produced by VoxGad Music and released through Nuh Response Production, Rhiya Luna gets bold on the new track as she confronts a partner who has been betraying her trust. Some listeners may be pleasantly surprised by her delivery here, but if you knew her from her days as “Shie“, then you hear hints of that. Nonetheless, expect Rhiya Luna’s upcoming music to have a little more aggression, and her songwriting skills being taken to another level. It’s a great Sunday, and a Oldies Sunday! It’s also the day we celebrate one of Jamaica’s greatest Reggae Artists, Everton Blender on his 67th Birthday. Today we honour him on Oldies Sunday with one of his classic tracks, “Family Man“.

Produced by Richard “Bello” Bell on the “Tempo Riddim” and released on the Star Trail label in 1995, Everton Blender’s “Family Man” was a song that was made for the working men who had to do what was necessary to take care of their families. No matter what was going on, Everton had to stay strong in his faith, and overcome the daily challenges to make it good things happen. “Family Man” was one of Blender’s popular singles, and still remains one of his more recognizable tracks. Possessing strong lyrics, Everton Blender’s mission was to make good music with positive messages that would connect with many around the world. Since the release of “Family Man”, Everton Blender went on to release more singles and albums, and is still active today. Put “Family Man” in your classic songs rotation today.

OLDIES SUNDAY: Jesse Green – “Nice & Slow” (1976)

How about a lil Disco? On today’s “Oldies Sunday“, we go back in time to a time when Jamaicans found success in the Disco era. Get ready to dance to Jesse Green’s “Nice & Slow“.

Produced by Ken Gibson and Dave Howman, “Nice & Slow” was released in 1976 through Scepter Records. Jesse Green made delivered some feel good vibes on “Nice & Slow”. With a solid production that included flutes and horns, and some soulful vocals, “Nice & Slow” became one that caught on to you quickly, and you can’t help but dance up a storm to. “Nice & Slow” was also featured as the opening track for the 1976 album of the same name. The track was a minor hit for Green having gained #1 placements in Belgium and in The Netherlands, but became an International hit when it was given a remix in later years. Jesse Green was a member of the vocal trio The Pioneers, and played Drums with Jimmy Cliff in the 1970s. He continued to release more music after “Nice & Slow”, and they have done relatively well in the US and the UK. One thing for sure, many still remember his hit from the Disco era.
