It’s a great Sunday, and a Oldies Sunday! It’s also the day we celebrate one of Jamaica’s greatest Reggae Artists, Everton Blender on his 67th Birthday. Today we honour him on Oldies Sunday with one of his classic tracks, “Family Man“.

Produced by Richard “Bello” Bell on the “Tempo Riddim” and released on the Star Trail label in 1995, Everton Blender’s “Family Man” was a song that was made for the working men who had to do what was necessary to take care of their families. No matter what was going on, Everton had to stay strong in his faith, and overcome the daily challenges to make it good things happen. “Family Man” was one of Blender’s popular singles, and still remains one of his more recognizable tracks. Possessing strong lyrics, Everton Blender’s mission was to make good music with positive messages that would connect with many around the world. Since the release of “Family Man”, Everton Blender went on to release more singles and albums, and is still active today. Put “Family Man” in your classic songs rotation today.

OLDIES SUNDAY: Jesse Green – “Nice & Slow” (1976)

How about a lil Disco? On today’s “Oldies Sunday“, we go back in time to a time when Jamaicans found success in the Disco era. Get ready to dance to Jesse Green’s “Nice & Slow“.

Produced by Ken Gibson and Dave Howman, “Nice & Slow” was released in 1976 through Scepter Records. Jesse Green made delivered some feel good vibes on “Nice & Slow”. With a solid production that included flutes and horns, and some soulful vocals, “Nice & Slow” became one that caught on to you quickly, and you can’t help but dance up a storm to. “Nice & Slow” was also featured as the opening track for the 1976 album of the same name. The track was a minor hit for Green having gained #1 placements in Belgium and in The Netherlands, but became an International hit when it was given a remix in later years. Jesse Green was a member of the vocal trio The Pioneers, and played Drums with Jimmy Cliff in the 1970s. He continued to release more music after “Nice & Slow”, and they have done relatively well in the US and the UK. One thing for sure, many still remember his hit from the Disco era.

It’s All About Energy In Yanah’s “Sagittarius Moon”!

Singer Yanah gets back to the music, and seeks to make a bigger impact. She was away for a bit, but we guarantee you that her captivating vocals are still present, and she has some “Yanah SZN” content ready for you to tap into. Her return comes in the form of the music video for the single, “Sagittarius Moon“.

Directed by Yanah with assistance from Mark Llewellyn, “Sagittarius Moon” is a soulful look into energy, and the role it plays while she seeks to share hers with someone new. Production for the track was done by Janoi Senior a.k.a. SNR Beats. The video finds her connecting with nature (while rocking a crocheted bathing suit), and presenting herself in a beautiful way in her first music video. Sizzla Is Still “On A High”, Makes New Developments At Judgement Yard

To say that Jamaican music Icon Sizzla is a busy man is an understatement. With numerous singles and albums to date, Sizzla has made good use of the opportunities he has been given in music. His Humanitarian works and Community Development has further solidified him as a man of the people, and an example to follow for years to come.

 Sizzla continues to ride high off of the success of his latest album, “On A High”. Released in August 2021, the album has further solidified Sizzla as one of the hardest working artists in Reggae, and his knack for creating quality music never took a break. With the title track and “Crown On Your Head” helping to push “On A High” to more ears and speakers around the world, the album has been praised by fellow artists and members of the music fraternity, and was shown an enormous amount of love on social media. The album has been featured on the top rated “The Ebro Show” on Apple Music, and was featured through various entertainment programs and mix shows across the Caribbean, Africa, and various parts of the world.

When Sizzla gives the studio time to rest, he is hard at work making plans, and pushing forward development at Judgement Yard Community Centre in August Town, St. Catherine. He is currently overseeing and giving a helping hand in numerous projects as a part of community’s “Musicville” area including a man-made river, a swimming pool, a learning centre, a restaurant, a new state of the art recording studio, and other structures. Sizzla is still making a difference with the “Sizzla Youth Foundation” initiative, and continues to unite the people and inspire others to uplift and develop their communities.

It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Singer Rhiya Luna. She has been staying busy however putting together new music for you to hear. There was no way the year would end without her giving us a couple more songs. Today, she makes up for time apart with her newest track, “Change Me“.

Produced by Nuh Response Production and featuring frequent collaborator Kruze 45, Rhiya sings about keeping her heart clean, and remaining a good person no matter how much the world tries to change her. The world has its shares of ups and downs, and sometimes people are put into circumstances that change them for better, or for worse. Rhiya Luna and Kruze 45 continue to show great chemistry here, but don’t be surprised if they announce a collaborative project soon (Rhiya may be dropping an EP before that we hope). After keeping the streets and Social Media buzzing with the original “Senorita“, Dancehall Artists Maestro Don and D’Yani have been on a high. With millions of views gained for the official Music Video, fans around the world were keeping the single alive for months, and requesting more. Maestro Don has fulfilled that request as he makes a Jamaica/Trinidad link up with the inclusion of Soca Singer Nailah Blackman for the official “Senorita (Remix)“.

Originally produced by KevStar Records, Maestro Don and D’Yani crafted a great single for all the Senoritas with the banging bodies. Adding Nailah Blackman to the mix just makes for a bigger hit single as she gives us a splash of sexiness, and her signature vocals. With a Music Video shot by Hi Esteem Agency, we see Maestro and Nailah trade lines in a Hotel before shifting to her hanging out with her girls at the beach, while D’Yani brings it back to nature with his lovely lady close by. The original single has been doing some damage, and we expect the remix to turn up the vibes even more!
