Recently, International Recording Artist Jason Derulo released his latest single, “Too Hot“. While Jason has a great run with the pop hits, a familiar sound can be heard throughout the track, and it was the 1993 Dancehall classic, “Murder She Wrote” by Chaka Demus & Pliers! Produced by Sly & Robbie for the Taxi Label, this song is Chaka Demus & Pliers’ signature track, and sampled another classic, the 1966 Toots & The Maytals’ “Bam Bam” which was produced by the late Byron Lee! Today, we’re gonna highlight the classic samples, songs that sampled them, and the many variations of the “Bam Bam Riddim” in our new “#13thStreetThrowback” Playlist series! It’s time to learn something, and party away!
Singer/Actress/Reality TV Star Amara La Negra has been enjoying an enormous amount of buzz since crossing over to the US market thanks to her appearances on VH1’s “Love & Hip Hop: Miami“. Since then, she has signed record contracts, and made her brand spread everywhere. Making time for the studio however, she has released her latest single, “Insecure“. Produced by Theron Thomas of Rock City and Supa Dups (with Stephen “Di Genius” McGregor making a cameo appearance), Amara wants to get to the bottom of things as her intuition is tingling when it comes to matters of the heart.
This marks Amara’s first official single for her upcoming debut album, and her second release in recent weeks with the first being the Sister Nancy sampled, “What A Bam Bam“. What’s next for the Afro Latina bombshell? Stay tuned. Check out the track below.
After catching listeners with the single, Raine Seville and Lisa Hyper finally unleashed the visuals for “Chat Mi (Remix)“. Directed by Muztang Media, Raine and Lisa get at detractors who have tried to throw dirt on their names and those who think their careers would be long gone. We’re also treated to lots of costume changing, dancing, and of course that Yardstyle Ent. production that sampled the ever popular “Murder She Wrote“. Look out for these two as they’ll grace the Reggae Sumfest stage this month! Keep dem talking, a nuh dem a put on mi pot a rahtid!
