Discovered What? We look Back At Burning Spear’s “Columbus” (1980)

We wanted to drop this yesterday on “Oldies Sunday“, but didn’t get to. While today many Americans recognize “Columbus Day“, many folks have done their revision on World History over the years, and have since challenged the higher ups to discredit the “Discoveries” of Christopher Columbus and recognize the day as “Indigenous Peoples Day“. While the European Explorer made his travels with the Pinta, Nina, and Santa Maria, he couldn’t have discovered land that was already occupied. Calling him out on the claims is Reggae Icon Burning Spear with “Columbus“!

Released in 1980, and featured on his Album “Hail H.I.M.“, Spear calls out Columbus as a “Damn blasted liar” and sets the record straight on what the Explorer really did. He didn’t discover Jamaica or all the lands he has claimed to discover! What happened to the Arawak people? What happened to the black people that were already here? Why are they still celebrating this man? There have been protests for years, and there will be more until the day is more recognized for Indigenous People (big up the 55 cities in the US that have made the change). Stay woke! There are some Men that are so tight with their money in a relationship, you’d think the money was their significant other. Comedian OneRomone however, plays that role in his latest video! Making a Parody of Dancehall Artist Aidonia’s “Yeah Yeah” hit, Romone goes off in a Mean Men members’ meeting about not spending on his Women, making sure he doesn’t satisfy their material demands, and even penny pinching when it comes to food. Instead of “Yeah Yeah Yeah“, he wilds out and shouts “No No No“! I’m sure Rom isn’t like that in real life, we know the ladies would be on his case in an instant! Big up Aidonia and 4th Genna Music as well. Directed by the Warren Weir helmed “Weirz World“, and an apperance by Kevin2WoKrayzee, check out the video below!

It’s big business when these two team up! The “Unruly Boss” Popcaan and UK Rapper Giggs got the clips loaded and masks on in their new track, “Time’s Tickin’“. Over a banging Production, the Artists go into “Killy Killy” mode and show listeners they’re not playing when the war is on! For those who aren’t familiar with Giggs, he has been on the UK Rap and Grime scene for a few years delivering slick rhymes over dope Production. More people got wind of him thanks to his appearance on Rapper Drake’s “More Life” project. With his recently released “Wamp 2 Dem” Mixtape, he wants new listeners to know he’s here to stay, and will be a problem to those who step in his way. Wicked! It’s been over two years since the release of Recording Artist Protoje’s “Ancient Future“, and it’s still a banger! What’s your favourite song off of it? Still wish it won a Grammy. If you’re a viewer of the hit FOX TV series Lethal Weapon, then you might’ve heard a familiar song from the Artist in their latest episode. Kicking off the first 30 seconds was the first single off the 2015 Album, “Answer To Your Name“! Produced by Winta James and Lewis Planter, Protoje went into storytelling mode on this one and had influences of Ska throughout the Production.

Lethal Weapon is a TV series based on the popular “Buddy Cop” Comedy Movie franchise which stars Comedian Damon Wayans and Clayne Crawford. The Movie starred Mel Gibson and Danny Glover. Sidenote: Congrats to the new Dad Protoje, we hope the Lion Cub is ready for a fun life filled with good music and sights to see. Check out the clip below.

Get To Packing: Vybz Kartel Says “Don’t Come Back” In New Song!

Ha ha ha ha, ha ha ha ha… The “World Boss” Vybz Kartel is back at it again with a new song! Titled “Don’t Come Back” and released through Vybz Kartel Muzik, Addi gives us a different flow this time around as he ridicules ungrateful women, having nary a problem with a woman as he still can get whichever one he chooses, declaring himself as the “One Don” and should have a holiday in his honour, and further exhibiting that he is one of the best out there. Fresh off the Video premiere of “Girlfriend” with Busta Rhymes and Tory Lanez, we know some new collabs are in the works for him. No long talking, get familiar with the new Kartel below!
