Beres Hammond Kicks Off His New Year With “Let Me Help You” Video

On August 28, Jamaican music legend Beres Hammond OJ celebrated his 69th birthday. With a career spanning over 50 years, it’s definitely a blessing for the Singer to still have life, and still giving the world great music. He celebrated his new year with the release of the Music Video for the single, “Let Me Help You“.

The Music Video for Beres Hammond’s “Let Me Help You” displays good times with friends, and a Man who shows that he can still rock the crowd 50+ years in. The video features a game of Dominoes among friends, shares a few photos of Hammond in his younger days, and highlights of Hammond’s performance at the Saint Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival last May. Good to see Beres Hammond still going strong, and we wish him many more years, and here’s to him thrilling even more when he hits the stage.

For just a moment we go back, back in time to experience something special. The 80s saw the gradual rise of Dancehall Music and the continuation of the rise of Lovers’ Rock, and it birthed many Artists and various musical styles. For this post, we experience the 80s night life in Jamaica in Sean Paul’s visual for the single, “Rebel Time“.

Directed by Jay Will, “Rebel Time” is a collaboration between Sean Paul and Beres Hammond that connects with the ladies, entices fans of the Lovers’ Rock vibe, and it pays respect to those who helped to pave the way for the further development of Jamaican music. The single was produced by Dutty Rock Productions/Ineffable Records, and was receiving positive feedback since its release over a month ago. The video features the two musical legends taking over a Dancehall party with a performance that has everyone dancing and having a great time. Ready for some time traveling?

We’re here to bring some last minute vibes before the big day on Oldies Sunday! We go back in time to give you a classic, Beres Hammond’s “No Disturb Sign“.

Beres Hammond handles production on this “No Disturb Sign”, and it was released through Elektra Records in 1994. The track finds Beres connecting in the best way possible with his lover, going as far as calling in sick from work to make all the time in the world for his lady. When it’s time for love, no disturbance please, just two lovers in their bubble. “No Disturb Sign” is one of Beres’ most popular singles. With his signature vocals, this is guaranteed to bring out the lover in you any time it’s played. “No Disturb Sign” was featured on the 1994 album, “In Control“. With decades of hits, you can count on “No Disturb Sign” to be played on Valentine’s Day. Make sure you lock the doors, turn the phones off, and just let magic happen. A couple weeks ago, the legendary Beres Hammond gave the world nothing but that niceness with his “Love From A Distance” online concert. Serenading with the classics, he gave the audience even more when he brought Popcaan on stage to perform a new single called, “God Is Love“. While the single became available days later, today we get the visual for it.

Directed by Shane C. Brown, Rasheed Hammond, and Lauren Watkis, we see Popcaan and Beres Hammond build a vibe together with Shane C. Brown at the studio. We also get various highlights of their performance at the concert, and we witness a great pairing as Beres the elder and Poppy the young bwoy gave us a song that we will be enjoying for years to come. Is it too much to ask for a collaborative EP?

On October 6, Jamaica and the world lost another Icon, Producer Extraordinaire Bunny “Striker” Lee. Known as “The Gorgon“, Bunny Lee was man who has helped to shape music as we know it as he was an early adopter of Dub Music along with the late pioneer King Tubby. He was a pioneer of the Reggae Music market in the UK, and he was also the man who produced former child star now Dancehall Icon Beenie Man’s debut album. If you didn’t know, Bunny “Striker” Lee is one of the fathers of the Remix! Today, we pay tribute to his production work by highlighting some of his classics, and those who sampled him in our latest Playlist!
