Jamaican Hip Hop Artist Five Steez is hitting the pavement running with new music. When he’s not dealing with life in Fitness, or connecting with fellow Creatives, he’s in the Studio putting together carefully-crafted music. Recently, he premiered new singles with the announcement that a project was on the way. That project is here, and it’s called, “RE:Emergence“.

Featuring 7 tracks, Five Steez is back like he never left with the “RE:Emergence” EP. The project is done in collaboration with Producer Chosen One, and Steez was gunning with this one. He is found sharing reflections here, highlighting some observations, and he still finds the space to let the people know that he’s still a top tier Artist. Chosen One’s production compliments the bars, and sets the stage for future collaborations. Five Steez stated that he will be turning up the production rate for music over the next few months, and you will stayed tuned for the next drop.

Following the successful launch of its innovative concept on September 26th at Top Stykaz Bar & Ultra Lounge in Kingston, Nyam & Plot with its screening of Ryan Coogler’s Sinners. Jamaica’s new multi-sensory cinema and culinary event series is officially gearing up for its highly anticipated second installment. Chapter 2: Fright Night
is set to take over Kingston on October 31, 2026, combining spooky season energy with elevated entertainment.

Nyam & Plot is presented by The Complex, a pioneering creative campus and production hub built to aggregate local talent, provide elite production services, and anchor Jamaica’s evolving creative economy. The mission and vision of The Complex center on redefining how Caribbean culture is produced, experienced, and exported—building physical and cultural infrastructure that empowers local creators and brings boundary-pushing concepts to life. Beyond its live event footprint, The Complex is also home to dynamic multi-format cultural collaborations, including Dawk Stage. The platform is an artist live performance and interview series created by Quan Motionz. It is set to return late 2026 in collaboration with The Complex. Playing on its namesake, Dawk Stage features rising music acts performing inside an intimate dark-room set, paired with deep-dive interview questions that push past the music to reveal relatable personalities and offer a fresh, intimate lens on these artists.

As a monthly social experience, Nyam & Plot introduces an entirely new way to enjoy movies with your friends or your significant other, quickly rising to the potential of being the island’s go-to destination for an unforgettable date night. Breaking away from the ordinary movie night or nightlife mold, the series curates fresh experimental social formats where locals, creatives and culture-shapers can gather, connect and enjoy innovative concepts together.

Behind the scenes The Complex is actively scaling its operations and expanding its executive team, currently finalizing key appointments including a Chief Operating Officer (COO) and co-founder as it transitions through its staged Minimum Viable Product (MVP) phase. Alongside these structural milestones, The Complex is being increasingly tapped to manage, executive produce and coordinate international production projects looking to film on the island. Nyam & Plot: Chapter 2 elevates the event formula with a Halloween-themed Fright Night edition. Dancehall Artist Nitty Zulu is on the ground running with plans to release more music. He returned to the scene recently with “Bad B****“, and has been getting some love for it online, and in the streets. Not wanting to slow down, he keeps going with the release of the new single, “Carnival“.

Produced by PStatus and RJC Productions and released through Akan Tribe Records, Nitty Zulu delivers “Carnival” for the ladies. He shares his admiration for them, and the ways they know how to get his attention. Carnival is a energetic and fun time for many, and having a Woman with that kind of vibe will never produce dull moments. The single not shows admiration and desire, but to give the ladies a boost, and a moment to flaunt. Sometimes being your own company is the better thing to be. Nowadays, we can’t tell who is who, and people are really fickle. Recording Artist Cali Fr has been going through a few things, and he prefers to be in his own space. He talks about it in, “Relate“.

Produced by DPen Melodies/Bornstar Music/Vayro Records, Cali Fr sees the way of Man, and he’s protecting himself from all the negativity and ill intentions by taking himself away in, “Relate”. Bad experiences and conflict are really draining, and many of us rather find that Spaceship and go chill in the stars than to deal with humans. While he can’t relate to many people nowadays, listeners can relate to the lyrics shared, and will keep it in their regular rotation. Cali Fr is still enjoying buzz from the single “Bread“, and with more music on the way, he looks to have his music connect with many more people. Still trying to my way.

OLDIES SUNDAY: Tommy McCook & The Supersonics – Mabrouk (1970)

On September 23, renowned Musician/Producer/Bass Legend Clifton “Jackie” Jackson made his transition. Known for Basslines that advanced genres, his contributions to Jamaican music are in no way minimal. Today, we remember the late Bassist by featuring his work as a member of Tommy McCook & The Supersonics on, “Mabrouk“.

Arranged by Duke Reid and released through Treasure Isle in 1970, Tommy McCook & The Supersonics provided a sound that would wake up towns, and kept the streets moving with, “Mabrouk”. Also known as “Wailing” and “Wailing Mabrouk” with rereleases, the meeting of Instruments was not only soothing to the ear, but called for listeners to get into a groove. Jackie Jackson’s Bassline was prominent throughout, and kept the other sounds in check. Before it lived a life as “Mabrouk”, it made its debut in 1967 as the Instrumental for The Techniques’ “Queen Majesty” minus the horn section. Dennis Alcapone would take the reigns in 1972 with “My Voice Is Insured For Half A Million Dollars“, and it would go on to be sampled by Sugar Minott, Bobby Digital, Sonia Pottinger, Harry J, Bunny “Striker” Lee, George Phang, Prince Tony Robinson, Joseph Hoo Kim, and more.

Jackie Jackson’s work on “Mabrouk” would make him a sought after Bassist, and lead him to work with the likes of Toots & The Maytals who he would go on to tour with for 50 years, The Wailers, Jimmy Cliff, Paul Simon, Desmond Dekker, Lee “Scratch” Perry, and his late Wife Karen Smith. He would inspire the likes of Aston “Family Man” Barrett, and Robbie Shakespeare of Sly & Robbie. Clifton “Jackie” Jackson would pass away on September 23, 2026, but would leave behind a legacy that will be carried on by his family, and the true students of music. His Basslines permeate through Jamaican music to this day.

He is a hustler no doubt, and with his debut Mixtape, he proves that he is a “Paper Chaser“.
