Spring is in the air, and with a new season comes a new mixtape from 1NE Don Sound founder DJ Supadon. Titled “Panda 6ixteen“, Supa provides almost 30 minutes of some of the latest Hip Hop, Pop, Dancehall, and EDM mixes and remixes. Something for the Gym session, the lunch break, the morning pick me, or just when you want something to bounce to, Supadon is a DJ you need. First they started out as the youth of the Dancehall/Reggae culture, now they’re parents with growing kids. It isn’t unusual for the child of an Entertainer to follow in their parent’s footsteps one way or the other as at times they bring a modern take on their parent’s creations, or create their own lane. From being one of the greatest One-hit wonders ever, to being in some of your favourite movies and TV shows, Carl Douglas’ 1974 “Kung Fu Fighting” single has crossed many paths the world over. Recently, the Biddu produced Disco single was featured in a new commercial for Scotts Lawn Care Products. Throughout the video you can hear the intro to the Jamaican born Singer’s hit while promoting good lawn care that’s safe for Adults, Children, and Animals. Today I present to you a classic from the “Lyrical Gangsta” iNi Kamoze a.k.a the originator of the “Woiyoi“, with a modern twist from a mad Scientist named Yared Lee a.k.a Boomdraw. Remixing iNi’s 1995 “Listen Me Tic“, Boomdraw experimented with new samples and scratches over a dark Production. If you’re a fan of the original then you’ll love this and If iNi was looking to reissue his “Lyrical Gangsta” album, he should consider throwing this remix in there along with the Soso Def remix with Da Brat. Jamaican-born, NY-based recording artiste and restaurateur Peppa Ceed is preparing to take to local airwaves with his latest single “Party Time”. Released in mid-December, the Singjay said the single, which featured Dancehall artiste Gully Bop has been making rounds in the clubs in New York. “I am hoping to have similar or even better luck here in Jamaica. That would be a plus for my career as Jamaicans are the hardest music lovers to place so when they embrace your work, you know you are doing a good thing,” he said. “Party Time” was produced by Peppa Ceed’s Hot Peppa Records.
Peppa Ceed, whose given name is Garvin Hussey, spent his earlier years in Golden Spring, St Andrew. His introduction to music came when he began singing back-up for some of his friends at a community studio. “In those days you had to rehearse sometimes for months to get it right,” he said. Peppa then migrated to New York after completing his Secondary Education at Mount James All-Age School. While living in America life still proved to be a struggle for him which prevented him from continuing to pursue music as a career. He then diverted his attention to operating a West Indian-style restaurant “Peppa Ceed Jerk Chicken Restaurant” in New York. In 2014, he released the single “Lebron James” which he said is still being played in small clubs in the Tri-state area. This was followed by “Whine Fi The Peppa” in 2015.
