Reggae Music is a vibe, and is the music for healing. In a time where conflicts arise, we need unity, and we need love. Recording Artist Garnet Silk Jr. believes in love, and the world needs it abundantly. He sends a positive charge to the world with the single, “There Is Love“.

Released through Reuben Order Records, Garnet Silk Jr. aims to stop the wars, cast away the darkness, and bring the people together in, “There Is Love”. Presenting great vocals and drum-heavy production, Silk stands tall and militant with a message that aims to connect with the people, bringing them closer to Jah. Like his Father before him, the music is one of the best tools to use in times like these where people are focused on corruption and division. Garnet Silk Jr. aims to bring more music to the forefront in 2026, and performances including a follow up to the “Garnet Silk Legacy Day” Event, and listeners can stay tuned. Luciano, Bushman, Capleton & More Celebrate “Garnet Silk Legacy” In Mandeville

On April 26, Mandeville was treated to something special from one of its greatest musical exports. The late Garnet Silk became a legend in a few years in Jamaica, and his early passing left behind a catalogue that exalted him to great levels. Aforementioned date was set for the first staging of the “Garnet Silk Legacy Day” event. Comprised of a fun day for the family and a night Concert held at Brooks Park, a former stomping ground for Silk, Mandeville and its surrounding areas were tuned in to the music of Silk, united in the name of community, and had a great time.

Put together by Lovey Silk (Garnet Silk’s spouse), the Smith family, and The Garnet Silk Foundation, the event was one to experience, and for those who weren’t fully familiar with Garnet Silk and his work, were given a lesson that thanks to his catalogue being selected by the legendary Ricky Trooper, and tributes by a number of Artists. Speaking of Artists, the night concert featured performances by friends, family, and those inspired by Silk including Aaron Silk (Garnet Silk’s brother), Anthony Cruz (Nephew), Garnet Jr. (Son), Luciano, Capleton, Bushman, Bongo Herman, Nature Ellis, Bugle, Droop Lion, and many more. For those who weren’t able to attend nor tuned in to our TikTok Live Broadcast, check out highlights of the event below, and look forward to its 2nd staging next year. Today we remember and celebrate the life and work of one of Jamaica’s most iconic Vocalists, the late Garnet Smith a.k.a. Garnett Silk! With April 2 marking his 53rd birthday, many would agree that the world lost this great Artist too soon. In true Blog fashion, we highlight some of his many hits in our latest Playlist titled, “Garnett Silk: Hatfield Legend“!

With nearly 3 hours worth of music, even if you weren’t familiar with his entire catalogue, this will cover some of his finest selections and even a couple collaborations. (Editor’s note: For those questioning the “Hatfield Legend” title, he was raised in Hatfield, Manchester, and has left a huge impact on the community decades after his death.) An Artist who has not only brought a different sound to Reggae, but has influenced Artists after him and many idolize him in various communities worldwide. Walk good Bimbo!

First they started out as the youth of the Dancehall/Reggae culture, now they’re parents with growing kids. It isn’t unusual for the child of an Entertainer to follow in their parent’s footsteps one way or the other as at times they bring a modern take on their parent’s creations, or create their own lane. Some of the most famous off springs include Stephen, Ziggy, and Damian “Junior Gong” Marley (Sons of Bob Marley), Chino and Di Genius (Sons of Freddie McGregor), Junior Tucker (Son of Jimmy Tucker), Morgan Heritage (Children of Denroy Morgan), Tarrus Riley (Son of Jimmy Riley), Queen Ifrica (Daughter of Derrick Morgan), Protoje (Son of Lorna Bennett), Chronixx (Son of Chronicle) and many more. In part 5 of a few part series, I feature more of the new set of kids on the scene whose parents have covered much ground in their respective careers.
