.@KxngIzem Scores “Dubby’s” Win, Prepares Upcoming EP Release

Emerging Recording Artiste Kxng Izem has been consistently building his brand, and delivering a unique Reggae Fusion sound to listeners worldwide for a number of years. With a collection of singles and projects to his name, he looks to build his ever-growing catalogue in 2021, and beyond. His work hasn’t gone unnoticed however, and he recently gained some well needed recognition for it.

2021 saw the advent of the first staging of the “Dubby’s”, an online award event series held by Dubwise Jamaica, the premiere event that was an early advocate of the “Reggae Revival” movement. Co-founded by Jason Panton, the “Dubby’s” was birthed out of a need to recognize local artistes for their contributions to the Jamaican music culture. Held on February 27, Kxng Izem emerged a winner in the “New Coup Breakout Artiste Of 2020” category. Fellow nominees in the category included Leno Banton, Blvk H3ro, Runkus, Joby Jay, Wayne J, and Royal Blu. 2020 found Kxng Izem releasing the singles like “Cool and Easy”, “Brighter Days”, “Stone Love”, and “Sunday Morning”, and looks to follow up with the release of his latest EP, “Wildfire”.

For many child stars, the life that they’re accustomed to stops when they hit puberty. For child stars like Dancehall Artist Wayne J, his music career has grown gradually as he matures. While many will remember the little boy that graced stages with his unique songs, the teenager has been developing his flow, and sharpened his lyrical game since then. Today, we check him out in the visual for the single, “We A Rock Dem“!

Directed by II Fold Creative Studios and shot at locations like the Balcome Park Primary & Junior High School and the Freedom Skate Park, Wayne J takes it to the streets as he fires off hot lyrics over a Mirror Ink Productions beat, and connects with the people as they are sharing good vibes and unity. Wayne J doesn’t hold back as he talks like the “Young Boss” and “Gyallis” that he is, and staying as fresh as ever. He collaborated with Blvk H3ro last year on the “New Millennium” EP, and you can expect to hear him on more tracks this year. Let the music rock you!

We Pay Tribute To The Great U-Roy With Our Latest Playlist!

On February 17, 2021, the world lost a legend, the great Ewart “U-Roy” Beckford. A man who is the Daddy, the Father, the King, and the Originator of what you know as toasting/deejaying/rapping, he has left behind a great legacy for many others to follow and be inspired by. He may be gone physically, but we know he’s gearing up to nice up every session in the afterlife. Today, we pay tribute to his greatness with the “Sampling U-Roy” Playlist!

The “Sampling U-Roy” Playlist features some of his classics, and some of the tracks that sampled them. With artists like Dennis Brown, Def Jef, IDK, Dawn Penn, and Talib Kweli borrowing from the great Daddy U-Roy, you’re in for an enjoyable and informative listen. May we continue to honour our greats and give them their flowers while they’re still here. All hail the original King of Dancehall! Walk good U-Roy.

Dropping some Hip Hop vibes courtesy of Chase Soundz today. The HTG Rapper worked on his consistency throughout 2020, and is looking to step it up even more thanks to a bunch of new music he has in the stash. Today we get to check out his latest track, “Feel This“.

Produced by Lethal Needle and featuring Five Steez, the two get into some Boom Bap vibes as they kick bars and flows over some easy going Jazz influenced production. The track marks the 2nd time a member of The Council and HTG collaborate on a track together. The first effort came from Daley and Five Steez’s “All I Know” back in 2020. If all you know is to chase sounds and money, but still ensure your steez is right, then you have to feel this track!

All lovers get ready for this Oldies Sunday selection! In recognition of today being Valentine’s Day, we go back in time to check out UK Singer Don Campbell’s “See It In Your Eyes“!

Produced by Trevor T. with assistance from T. Phillips and Jazzwad and released through Juggling Records in 1993, Don Campbell is on a mission to retrieve a lost love after doing her wrong. Despite her rejections, he can see and feel that she still has a lot of love for him. With Valentine’s Day being a day for those who have strong love for each other, it can also be a day where the spark comes back in a relationship, or two hearts reconnect after being away from each other. Don Campbell’s “See It In Your Eyes” became a huge hit, and is listed as one of the greatest UK Lover’s Rock singles ever. The former member of the Undivided Roots Band struck gold when he made his first release as a solo artist as “See It In Your Eyes” quickly climbed the British Reggae Charts, and helped to gain him accolades at the 1994 British Reggae Industry Awards. The single was also featured on his successful 1994 debut album, “The Album” which was released through VP Records.

Kris Karz is back at it again with new music for your speakers and head tops. Having gained some traction with his “HEARTBREAK” Lyric Video last month, he moves forward in a new gear for his latest self produced single, “LOVE“.

 Over some Jazz influenced production, Kris Karz gets into some smooth talking as he shows a lot of interest in pretty young lady. When he’s ensuring that he’s not a poppy show and can more than give her what she needs, he keeps it real when he lets her know that he’s on the way to top, and she should be on board as she’ll be the one who he makes many things happen with. With February being the month for Valentine’s Day celebrations, “LOVE” comes at the right time as many are just finding love, or are maintaining the love they have. Accompanying the single is a lyric video that definitely stands out. Featuring contributions from KxrlyMiyagi, ArtLovesTrap, Lushane Tucker, and Totally Animated Studios, consider this presentation to be one of the best you’ll be consuming all year.
